Bodda Getta Daily Brew 3/15 - You Step Up, You Stay

"It's step-up time," MBB coach Bruce Pearl says of today's SEC game in the quarterfinals.

Good morning. After earning a double-bye into the SEC Tournament quarterfinals, fourth-seeded Auburn went to the Music City with the goal of winning three games in three days and cutting down the nets as conference champions.

"We'd love to spend the weekend there," Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said.

Without knowing the identity of their opponent until Thursday evening, the Tigers focused inward during this week's practices on the Plains.

Ranked No. 12 nationally after winning three straight games and going 4-1 at neutral sites this season, Auburn plays in today's second game at approximately 2:40 p.m. CT.

"It's step-up time," Pearl said. "If you step up, you stay. If you don't, you go home."

"They are more of a power-hitting team,” head coach Mickey Dean said. “Our team is excited, especially with that first series being on the road. They are excited to be home. I'll be ready to get through that first inning. Let everyone get the jitters out of the way and settle in."

"Excited to be undefeated in the SEC and playing a couple of good teams this weekend," said Auburn interim head coach Lester Cook.
