Freshman Jackson Koivun has been chosen as one of the three 2024 Ben Hogan Award finalists

Good Morning, Auburn Family. Auburn men's golf freshman Jackson Koivun has been chosen as one of the three 2024 Ben Hogan Award finalists. The other finalists for this year's trophy are Christo Lamprecht of Georgia Tech and Gordon Sargent of Vanderbilt. Koivun is the lone underclassman.
 
Since 2002, the Ben Hogan Award has honored the top men's NCAA Division I, II or III, NAIA or NJCAA college golfer annually based on all collegiate, amateur and professional events over the previous 12 months. The esteemed selection committee is comprised of more than 30 leaders in collegiate, amateur and professional golf. The Hogan Foundation will announce its 2024 winner on the evening of Monday, May 20.

🔼 Catch Me If You Can. No. 7 Women's golf expanded its lead to 14 strokes after the second round of the NCAA Auburn Regional on Tuesday. The Tigers were the only team under par during round two, shooting 1-under (287) for a 36-hole total of 577 (+1).

Freshman Anna Davis tied the best round of the day with a 69 (-3) on Tuesday. Davis' second shot on No. 16, a par 5, rolled onto the front of the green from 220 yards out before she made the long eagle putt of around 65 feet. She became the second Auburn player to eagle the hole during the event, as Megan Schofill recorded one on Monday. Davis' round moved her into a tie for second place individually at 2-under for the tournament (142).

🔼 Postseason on the Plains. The postseason begins as Auburn (27-18-1) Softball hosts the 2024 SEC Tournament at Jane B. Moore Field and opens competition today versus No. 14 Georgia (38-15). First pitch between the 10th -seeded Tigers and seventh-seeded Georgia is set for 4 p.m. CT. The winner of Wednesday's contest advances to Thursday to face two-seeded Florida at 4 p.m. CT.
 
Auburn is making its 23rd SEC Tournament appearance. The Tigers won the 2015 and 2016 tournaments and are hosting for the first time since 2007. They enter the postseason after taking down No. 17 Alabama twice to claim their first home series win over the Crimson Tide since 2018.

🔼  Didn’t Sting a Bit Auburn recorded five defensive runs saved and hit three homers in a 7-2 win at Georgia Tech Tuesday, completing a midweek sweep of the Yellow Jackets this season. Chris Stanfield robbed a two-run home run in the second inning and threw out a runner at the plate in the third, while Cade Belyeu brought back a second two-run homer in right field in the ninth.

Auburn travels to Missouri (21-28, 7-17 SEC) for a three-game series in Columbia Friday through Sunday.
