🔼 No Luck for the Irish. Playing on the big stage in the Big Apple, Auburn used balanced scoring and fast starts in each half to defeat Notre Dame 83-59 Thursday in the Legends Classic at Barclays Center.

Auburn will play St. Bonaventure on Friday in the championship game. The Bonnies beat Oklahoma State 66-64 in Thursday's first game.

Aden Holloway and Johni Broome each scored 15 points to lead five Tigers in double figures. Jaylin Williams added 11 points, while Tre Donaldson and Chris Moore each scored 10.

Holloway and Donaldson combined for 10 assists with only two turnovers.

The Tigers (2-1) and Bonnies tip off Friday at 6 p.m. CT on the Auburn Sports Network.

🔼 Eyes on the Prize. Coming off a 48-10 win at Arkansas and riding a three-game winning streak, Auburn has all the momentum with just two games left in the regular season

It's a stark contrast from where this Auburn team was just three weeks ago amid a four-game slide.

"No one wants to lose," freshman Keldric Faulk said. "It just depends on how you take the loss. If you take the loss as if it was somebody else's fault instead of yours, it's going to be bad on you. But if you take the loss with a grain of salt and you go out the next week and you prepare even harder than you did that last week, everything should work out for you."

"Momentum is an everyday thing," added head coach Hugh Freeze. "I firmly believe in life, you are either winning or learning, and I think that's a choice. You can also choose losing, but you better get to choosing, or life has a way of choosing for you.

The Aggies are 8-3, and, like Auburn, they're on a winning streak of their own, having won six games in a row.

The challenge for Auburn this week is not only to stay hungry and continue to improve but also to avoid looking ahead to the Iron Bowl, which is a week from Saturday.

🔼 Fromm Whence He Came. In the continuing series, this week turns to Three Questions With Tyler Fromm.

Q: What has been the key to the offensive development the last month?

A: The last month, I just feel like we've really cleaned up all the mistakes that we had early in the year. We've simplified everything. Everybody is just playing more confidently and faster. That's been helping the offense out a lot.

Q: How important is it to focus on New Mexico State this week and not look ahead?

A: The fans are always going to look forward, but we can't get to the Iron Bowl until we play New Mexico State. We're going to take this week like we would any other week.

Q: You're back in Jordan-Hare for what could be your last two games there. Have you thought about that and what it means to play in that stadium?

A: I'm going to take it in and cherish the last two chances, at least, that I have here. It's all I'm guaranteed, anyway. It's been a fun ride.

🔼 The Aggies Aggregates. It’s time to take a look at the Auburn-New Mexico State matchup by the numbers. Auburn leads the all-time series with New Mexico State by a 3-0 count. All three games have been played in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn won the first meeting by a 55-14 score in 1993. In 2007, the Tigers were 55-20 winners, and Auburn prevailed in the most recent matchup, played in 2012, by a 42-7 score.

Numerically speaking…

354: Auburn's 354 rushing yards at Arkansas last week were the Tigers' most in an SEC game since rushing for 543 yards against the Razorbacks in 2016 and the most in an SEC road game since totaling 444 yards on the ground at Tennessee in 2013.

30: With three catches against Arkansas, tight end Rivaldo Fairweather is now tied for the team lead with 30 catches for the season. It puts him just three catches away from John Samuel Shenker's single-season record for a tight end (33) set in 2021.

🔼 You Can Take the Guy Outta Auburn… It was a strong week for the Auburn Made crew led by Jamien Sherwood, Derrick Brown and Braden Smith, who all graded out at 80 or higher on PFF.

That and more in this week's Auburn Made NFL Rundown:

BEST OF WEEK 10

Derrick Brown, DT, Carolina Panthers
It was another monster performance from Brown on Thursday night. He racked up 10 tackles, including two for a loss against the Chicago Bears. It was the most tackles he's had in one game this season and the second most he's had in a game in his NFL career. Brown finished with a PFF grade of 82.7, good for second highest on the defense.

Jamel Dean, CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
With Carlton Davis out, Dean was tasked with locking down DeAndre Hopkins on Sunday, and he delivered. Hopkins finished with just three catches for 27 yards on eight targets. As a team, the Bucs kept Tennessee out of the end zone in a 20-6 victory. Dean had five tackles on the day and a pass break-up. His PFF grade (69.7) was fifth highest on the defense.

Read the article for the rundown on Roger McCreary’s first interception of the season, Jamien Sherwood’s first (and super successful) start of the season and Braden Smith’s first-rate run and pass blocking.

🔼 Relaying This News. Eyeing to make a splash before the calendar year comes to a close, Auburn Swim and Dive prepares for the UGA Fall Invitational in Athens, Georgia, Nov. 16-18.

The Auburn men enter the meet with a No. 10 ranking according to the latest CSCAA Coaches Poll, while the women are sitting at No. 18.

Prelims begin at 8:30 a.m. CT each day, and finals are set for 4:30 p.m. CT. Fans unable to make it to Gabrielsen Natatorium can watch the meet live on SEC Network Plus and follow along on Meet Mobile.

Entering the weekend, Auburn men own seven top-20 individual times in the nation. When it comes to relays, the Tiger men have been the second fastest in the 800 free, third fastest in the 200 medley, fourth in the 200 free and fifth in the 400 medley.

Kensley Merritt, Ellie Waldrep and Meghan Lee on the women's side. Merritt's 100 back time still ranks the 11th fastest in the country, while Lee's 100 fly time is the 12th best so far.

The women's relays are nearly as stout as the men's this season. Auburn ranks in the top 10 in the country in the 200 free, 800 free and 400 medley relays.

🔼 Gymnastics in the Genes. As Auburn gets ready to kick off its 2024 gymnastics season in January, it’s time to get to know the 10 newcomers to the squad. Next up is Senior Sydney Schumaker!

Hometown: Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Prior to Auburn: Two-time National Collegiate Gymnastics (NCGA) All-American – vault for SUNY Brockport … 2023 NCGA Runner Up – vault … Two-time NCGA East Region Champion – vault … Two-time NCGA Specialist of the Week … 2018 Eastern Champion on vault at the club level.

Some Quick Hits on Sydney:

  • Why Auburn—"Being a student-athlete, it's easy to be viewed by only the sport you do. In the short time that I've been at Auburn, I am seen as a person who is passionate about gymnastics, not just being a gymnast."

  • On Having a Mom and Sister Who Were College Gymnasts—"Having my mom and sister both being collegiate gymnasts, I had a lot of guidance throughout my career. Like every gymnast, there are plenty of ups and downs that you'll encounter, but having them both by my side truly being able to understand what I'm going through helped a lot. “

  • Most Looking Forward to at Auburn—"I am most looking forward to experiencing the incredible atmosphere at a home meet in Neville Arena."

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: “Bo Over the Top”

The dub in 1982 was Auburn's first Iron Bowl win in 10 years and the last to be coached by Bear Bryant, who retired after the season and sadly passed away exactly 60 days after this historic game.

🐅 Have a great Friday, y’all!
