🔼 Some Clutch Camp Competition. As preseason camp concluded with Saturday’s scrimmage at Jordan-Hare Stadium before Auburn University’s fall semester starts today, Hugh Freeze says his team’s approach has helped the head coach handle the rigors of preparing for the 2024 season.

“(They’re) pulling for each other, even though they’re competing for playing time, I’m really enjoying coaching this team and staff.”

While Auburn’s defense had the upper hand in much of last Saturday’s first scrimmage, the offense had its big-play revenge Tuesday evening in the stadium, Freeze said.

“Some one-on-one plays made by the receivers that were just like ‘wow,’” said Freeze, mentioning tight end Brandon Frazier and receivers Camden Brown and Cam Coleman.

🔼 No One Holds a “Candel” to Her. For senior Olivia Candelino, the college soccer experience hasn’t been without its challenges.

“I want people to know that my journey was not easy. Everyone is the best when you are at the high school level, so coming into a college environment is tough.”

The 2019 Florida Gatorade Player of the Year opted to leave her beloved hometown of Jacksonville and pursue an education and playing career on The Plains.

“Everyone is good in the SEC, so every week is a new challenge, and I love that,” Candelino said. “It just so happens that I get to be surrounded by amazing people while I play and live out my dreams.”

Read On the Plains With Olivia Candelino for more on the extra challenge of the pandemic, the challenge of balancing athletics with her school workload and what she hopes for the legacy of “playing with Cando.”

🎉TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Maryland!

“I got comfortable there and I wanted, for my last year, to go feel uncomfortable and see if that made me work harder,” said new Auburn linebacker Fa’Najae Gotay.

After six seasons, 42 games played, 133 career tackles, 10 starts, 7 tackles for loss and a pair of interceptions as a Maryland Terrapin, Gotay decided to spend the 2024 season as an Auburn Tiger.

🐅 Happy Monday, y’all!
