Auburn Athletics introduces new premium club, permanent field suites at Jordan-Hare

Good Morning, Auburn Family. The space near where Travis Tidwell, Auburn’s first All-American after World War II, prepared to play will come to life again this fall at Jordan-Hare Stadium with the opening of the Locker Room Club.

Part of three new premium options on sale next week and debuting in 2024, the Locker Room Club, five permanent field suites and the Hall of Fame Club at Plainsman Park will offer fans new ways to enjoy football gameday on the Plains.

“Another step in the continued enhancements of Jordan-Hare Stadium,” said Rhett Hobart, deputy athletics director for external affairs.

🔼 Causing a Racket. Auburn's Finn Murgett, Tyler Stice and Billy Blaydes have each been given All-SEC honors. Stice and Murgett have been tabbed first-team All-SEC while Blaydes was named second-team all-conference.
 
This season marks Murgett's first with an All-SEC honor. Stice has now been a part of the Southeastern Conference's first team three times, earning the distinction in 2021 and 2023. Blaydes has received postseason SEC honors during both of his seasons at Auburn after being named to the SEC All-Freshman team in 2023.

🔼 Mark Us Down For “Yes.” Marcus Harris strengthened his NFL resume with a productive 2023 season, his third on the Plains. The 6-3, 295-pound defensive tackle led Auburn with seven sacks and 11 tackles for loss last fall before entering the 2024 NFL Draft. 

"I'm ready," said Harris, who displayed his strength at the NFL Combine with 27 bench press reps of 225 pounds. NFL.com gives Harris a 6.10 prospect grade, projecting him as a good backup with the potential to develop into a starter.

🔼 Workin’ For the Weekend. Thanks to another electric 4-under 66 from freshman Jackson Koivun, No. 1 Auburn men's golf sits in fourth following a 4-under 276 team showing Thursday at the 2024 SEC Championship. The Tigers hold strong at 10-under for the tournament. Heading into today's stroke play final, Koivun boasts a one-shot lead in the 70-man individual field.
 
Auburn sits five shots back of team leader Vanderbilt (-15) and 11 shots ahead of the dreaded ninth place. Following round three, the top eight teams will advance to match play.

🔼 Ye Ole Road Game. Hitting the road for the final time in conference play, Auburn softball (24-15-1, 6-12 SEC) treks to Ole Miss (25-22, 3-15 SEC) for a three-game Southeastern Conference series. The Tigers are looking to win their second consecutive road SEC series after taking down No. 6 LSU two weekends ago.
 
The series begins tonight at 5 p.m. CT on the SEC Network. Auburn has won four of the last five games in the series, including earning a series win at Jane B. Moore Field last season and taking down the Rebels at the 2023 SEC Tournament.

🔼  A Dash of Southern Charm. Auburn (20-20, 2-16 SEC) embarks on its second straight road weekend with a three-game set at defending national champion LSU (26-16, 5-13 SEC) this weekend in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. First pitches at Alex Box Stadium are scheduled for tonight at 6:30 p.m. CT, Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
"Our postseason is absolutely now, so let's dig in and fight the rest of the way,” said head coach Butch Thompson.”

🔼  The Kids Are All Right. 91 Auburn student-athletes earned a selection to the 2023-24 Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll. The 2023-24 Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll includes basketball, equestrian, gymnastics and swimming and diving. It is based on grades from the 2023 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.
 
Auburn equestrian finished with 28 selections. Men's swimming and diving had 22, while women's swimming and diving totaled 21. Gymnastics finished with 11 selections, men's basketball totaled seven and women's basketball had two.

Answer: From 1950-1951, Travis Tidwell was a quarterback for the New York Giants, and in 1952, he returned to Auburn as an assistant coach.

More on Tidwell: He lettered four years in football and baseball at Auburn University. He played centerfield on the baseball team and quarterback and tailback on the football team. As a freshman, he led the nation with 79 passes completed and 945 total yards. His four-year yardage output was 3,821. In 1949, he was voted the SEC Most Valuable Player and named All-American. Playing in the Blue-Gray Game, he scored on a 75-yard punt return. In the inaugural Senior Bowl, he threw for two touchdowns and was named MVP.
