🔼When The Bigs Call, You Answer. Auburn shortstop Cooper Weiss and right-handed pitcher Christian Herberholz have agreed to terms with the San Diego Padres and Baltimore Orioles, respectively.

A graduate transfer in his lone season on The Plains, Weiss turned in a .291 batting average in 52 games played and ranked second on the team in runs (41), hits (55) and doubles (11) and third in home runs (eight) and RBI (37).

A two-year member of the Tigers, Herberholz made 33 career appearances, including 15 starts, and turned in a 4.76 ERA with 90 strikeouts in 90.2 innings pitched.

🔼Auburn Accelerates. ICYMI in yesterday’s Brew ⇢ In the inaugural SEC Startup Student-Athlete Pitch Competition, it was impressive that two of the five finalists were entrepreneurial teams from Auburn University’s New Venture Accelerator:  Accel Golf led by Ami Gianchandani and Ashley-Sinclair Curtis and Digital Athlete led by Allison Tanner, David Edmondson, and David Hollinger. It is even more notable that one of them won.

🔼Mr. Big Stuff. Perhaps the man with the most size on the Tiger roster at 6-foot-7, 355 pounds, senior offensive lineman Percy Lewis IV has quickly made Auburn a big part of his life since transferring here from Mississippi State at the beginning of the spring semester.

“I’ve really been working hard getting better at my run blocking,” Lewis said. “I was struggling with my footwork, so I’ve worked and studied what the coaches tell me, and I’ve gotten better at it now.”

Another area where Lewis has proven he can buckle down is in the classroom. The SEC Academic Honor Roll student earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Mississippi State in December, a hard-won achievement.

“It was a good, good feeling to get my bachelor’s degree in business,” Lewis said, explaining that he hopes to own a trucking company one day.

Read On the Plains With Percy Lewis IV for more on his NFL aspirations, his “country boys roots” and his desire to “put Auburn back on the map.”

🔼Tour de Force. The AMBUSH tour concluded yesterday with a "Texas Two-Step"—a lunch meeting in Houston and an evening session in Dallas featuring Auburn coaches Hugh Freeze, Bruce Pearl, Leroy Burrell, Nick Clinard,Jessica Braswell and AD John Cohen.

Answer: A recent marquee matchup between Auburn and Purdue, set to take place in December, was just announced. Auburn beat Purdue 59-58 in the NCAA Tournament in 1985.

This will mark the first game of a two-year series between Auburn and Purdue. The schools will face off again on Dec. 20, 2025, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, as part of the Fourth Annual Indy Classic.
