📈 STOCK UP

🔼 It’s In The Genes. As Auburn softball enters its fall season, new players will be taking The Plains—and this week we’re shining a spotlight on freshman Kyla Stroud of Covington, Georgia.

If her last name sounds familiar, it’s because her father played football for the Tigers years ago, which is why she calls herself an “Auburn Baby.” She even scored his old jersey number for herself, so she’ll be vying for a spot in the infield wearing No. 36. Of this privilege, Kyla gushed, “Being able to represent him every time I step on the field is the best feeling ever!” She calls Auburn her “home away from home” and says that “the atmosphere is electric.”

Kyla is a testament to starting kids young, as she said she began playing softball at 5 years old and was hitting home runs in elementary school.

Speaking of quick hits, here’s what you should know about Kyla:

  • She drinks a Dr. Pepper before every game.

  • Lil Baby is a must on her playlists.

  • If she could have any pet, it would be a pig!

  • She’s besties with teammate Makayla Parker, who she said welcomed her to Auburn with “open arms.”

🤔 TIGER TRIVIA

We took the ball and ran with it. Way back in 1994, Auburn football was on a 14-game winning streak when LSU came to town… and it didn’t look good for the Tigers as they entered the fourth quarter. That is until the wheels fell off and LSU’s quarterback became a turnover-machine.

How many fourth-quarter interceptions did Auburn defenders snag from LSU quarterback Jamie Howard?

🐅 ONE BIG THING

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: 5!

🏈 Three of the five interceptions were returned for touchdowns, allowing Auburn to extend their winning streak to 15 games with a 30-26 win over LSU. Also noteworthy—multiple players were hospitalized with dehydration after the game. That’s what happens when you rack up all those interception return yards in a single quarter!

🐅 Have a great Friday, y’all!
