Cooper McMurray's grand slam put the exclamation point on Auburn's win over Jax State
Good morning. No. 21 Auburn matched a season-high with four home runs en route to defeating Jacksonville State 13-3 in seven innings Tuesday night at Plainsman Park. With the win, the Tigers (16-8) improved to 6-0 in midweek games this season.
Trailing 3-1 entering the bottom of the fourth inning, Auburn (16-8) scored 12 unanswered runs in the fourth and fifth frames, highlighted by a go-ahead, two-run double from Carter Wright, a three-run homer from Mason Maners and a grand slam from Cooper McMurray.
"The offense woke up with 12 runs in two innings," head coach Butch Thompson said.

๐ผ Honesty Continues. Auburn graduate student Honesty Scott-Grayson was named a regional finalist for All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Scott-Grayson previously was named to the All-SEC First Team and earned a spot on the watch list for the Women's College All-Star Game.
Scott-Grayson is one of eight regional finalists from Region 2 and one of 52 finalists nationwide. She will advance to the national ballot. The awards will be announced on April 4 during the WBCA Convention in Cleveland.
๐ผ Aquatic Action. Eyeing a top-10 finish for the second straight year, the No. 9 Auburn Tigers travel north to Indianapolis, Indiana, for the 2024 Men's National Championships today through Saturday (March 27-30). Head coach Ryan Wochomurka and his squad are coming off back-to-back runner-up finishes at the SEC Championships. Eleven Auburn student-athletes earned a bid to this yearโs NCAA Championships.
The action begins inside the Indiana University Natatorium on Wednesday, March 27, with both the 800 free and 200 medley relays. Live coverage will be provided by ESPN Plus.
๐ผ Collins Crushes From the Court to the Classroom. Auburn women's basketball senior Taylen Collins was named to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District team. Collins started all 32 games for the Tigers this season. She was Auburn's leading rebounder with 6.3 boards per game, and she averaged 7.9 points per game to rank third on the team.
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, and have participated in at least 90 percent of the team's contests during the season.
๐ผ Deanโs Listโฆof Accomplishments. Auburn softball coach Mickey Dean, who is in his seventh season at the helm of the Tigers' program, will step down at the end of the 2024 season. Dean will continue serving Auburn as a special assistant to the athletic director following the conclusion of the 2024 season.
"I came to Athletic Director John Cohen this week after several previous conversations with him and made the difficult decision to step down as the head coach of the Auburn softball program at the conclusion of this season," Dean said. "This was my decision, and while it was a difficult one, it is what I felt was best for me and the program moving forward to allow me to focus time on personal matters."

This number was good for 11th on the all-time Auburn scoring list. For her final season on the Plains, she averaged a team-leading 17.3 points per game, along with 4.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals. Scott-Grayson led the Tigers with 39 3-pointers and shot 41.3 percent from the field. She also helped lead the Tigers to a 20-12 record, 8-8 SEC, and an NCAA Tournament bid for the first time since 2019.
