His career lasted over 40 years on the collegiate level and the NFL. For the last 16 years, Joe-Joe Petrone—who picked up his name from his favorite player on the Boston Celtics, Joe-Joe White—has worked for Auburn Athletics. Petrone stepped down as Auburn’s Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine at the end of February.

"I feel like I came in as a kid and am leaving a man," Murgett said. "When I came to Auburn, I was pretty raw, and I was taking every experience head-on, just trying to learn. Over the years, I've slowly gotten older, more mature and wiser. From a tennis perspective, I think I see the game in a different way than I used to. I'm much more appreciative of what it has done for me and the opportunities that it has given me, not only at Auburn, but throughout my life as well."

🔼 Circle the Winning Wagons. Coming off another hard-fought weekend in the Southeastern Conference, Auburn (16-11) completes its season series vs. UAB (12-15) tonight at 5 p.m. CT in Birmingham, Alabama. The game will be broadcast on the Auburn Sports Network and can be heard locally on Wings 94.3 FM. It will also be streamed digitally on ESPN+.

"It's time to put the head down and get better," head coach Butch Thompson said. "Let's redefine what we're doing, circle the wagons, and do this together. Let's be ready to play in Birmingham. That's probably the biggest thing we can do.”
