Auburn football is focused on Vanderbilt, but we’re celebrating last weekend’s win for as long as we can.

Go inside the locker room and watch coaches and players react to a big-time SEC win over Mississippi State.

📈 STOCK UP

The Writing is on the Wall. With a trio of first-year Tigers combining for 47 points, Auburn gave us a glimpse of what we’ll see in the season opener by defeating Auburn-Montgomery 102-66 Wednesday in an exhibition at Neville Arena.

Denver Jones made four 3-pointers and led Auburn with 18 points, Chad Baker-Mazara went 9-for-9 from the free-throw line and scored 15 points, and Chaney Johnson added 14 points.

"Those guys are good," Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said of the newcomers. "They have a chance to make us a better team. They all have great ability. Really efficient players, pretty high basketball IQ."

"It felt good being out there in front of the Auburn family tonight," Jones said. "It was really exciting for me."

Auburn tips off Pearl's 10th season Tuesday at 8 p.m. CT vs. Baylor at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on ESPN and the Auburn Sports Network.

🔼 No One-Trick Ponies. Auburn unveiled the Fall 2023 Watch List for PNC Achievers on Tuesday, with 12 deserving student-athletes selected based on their well-rounded achievement through leadership, academic success, community engagement, and competition. Talk about the Total Tiger Package (trademark pending).

"Their commitment to excelling in athletics, academics, and community service serves as a model for their teammates to emulate,” athletic director John Cohen said of the nominees.

From the Watch List, six semifinalists will be selected by an Auburn Athletics staff panel, and then one male and one female student-athlete will be named Fall 2023 PNC Achievers.

Anna Haddock (soccer) and Conner Pruitt (men's swim & dive) were recognized on the field before the Georgia game as Auburn's Spring 2023 PNC Achievers.

🔼  Auburn Roots, NFL Flex. From Montravius Adams to Derrick Brown to Colby Wooden, Auburn has an impressive group of interior defensive linemen in the NFL. All three shined in Week 8.

That and more in this week's Auburn-Made NFL rundown.

BEST OF WEEK 8

Montravius Adams, DT, Pittsburgh Steelers
Before this season, Adams had not registered four or more tackles in a game since 2020. He's now done it in back-to-back games and in three of his last four for the Steelers. On Sunday, he finished with four tackles and a tackle for loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Adams also added two quarterback hurries, and with a PFF grade of 78.6, he was Pittsburgh's highest-graded defender with an above-average snap count (24).

🔼 No. 24—Full Stop. Former Auburn women's basketball great DeWanna Bonner, the Tigers' all-time leading scorer, will have her No. 24 jersey raised to the rafters at Neville Arena at the Auburn-Alabama game on Sunday, Jan. 21.

The 2009 SEC Player of the Year and two-time All-American, Bonner finished her Auburn career with 2,162 points to sit atop the all-time scoring list for the Tigers. She is also third in Auburn history with 1,047 rebounds, seventh in blocks with 139, first in free throws (600) and free throw attempts (755), and fourth in scoring average (17.2 points/game). Following her senior year, she was selected fifth overall in the 2009 WNBA Draft by the Phoenix Mercury.
