Good morning. Graduate middle blocker Kyla Swanson was picked No. 35 overall (Round 5, pick 7) by the Omaha Supernovas in the Pro Volleyball Federation's inaugural draft on Monday.

The Wahoo, Nebraska native becomes the first student-athlete draftee in Auburn Volleyball history.

"I am so grateful for the opportunity to continue furthering my volleyball career post-graduation with the Omaha Supernovas," Swanson said. "Nebraska is where I grew up and fell in love with volleyball. To be able to play in Omaha is a momentous homecoming for me.”

🔼 Rocket Men. Before looking ahead to Wednesday's Rocket City Classic, Bruce Pearl looked back on Auburn's 104-76 win over Indiana in Atlanta.

"It was a thrill for me to coach against IU," said Pearl, who spent nine seasons at Southern Indiana in his first head coaching opportunity. "The thing I was as proud of as anything is the way Auburn basketball looked on and off the court.

"On the court, we played very pretty basketball, the way we shot it, the way we shared it, the way we defended. Off the court, we looked like we belonged. Saturday afternoon in Atlanta in an NBA facility, Indiana basketball fans got to see just how much Auburn basketball matters. I'm grateful to the Auburn family for showing up."

The game against the Hoosiers was the 16th time this season a NCAA Division I team has committed no more than three turnovers in a game this season and just the second time against a Power Five opponent.

For the sixth time in Auburn's first nine games, the Tigers will play away from Neville Arena when they meet UNC Asheville in Huntsville.

A trap game, Pearl calls it, coming as it does after Auburn's rout of Indiana and ahead of Sunday's marquee matchup against Southern California.

"Part of our developing this program is travel," Pearl said. "You get to bring the campus to them. We've got an unbelievable fanbase in Huntsville."

🔼 To Infinity and Beyond. Kyla Swanson was a dynamic addition to the 2023 roster for head coach Brent Crouch. Her play helped guide the Tigers to their first top-25 ranking in school history and a No. 7 in the NCAA Tournament, making it no wonder that she was just drafted to the Omaha Supernovas. The team is owned by global music sensation Jason Derulo and entrepreneurs Danny White and Chris Erickson, Co-Founders of City+Ventures.

The Pro Volleyball Federation is made up of seven teams for the 2024 season (Omaha Supernovas, Atlanta Vibe, Orlando Valkyries, Columbus Fury, Grand Rapids Rise, San Diego Mojo and Vegas Thrill). Dallas Pro Volleyball and Kansas City Pro Volleyball will join the Federation in 2025.

Omaha will host the first Pro Volleyball Federation match on Jan. 24, 2024, when the Supernovas take on the Atlanta Vibe at the CHI Health Center at 7 p.m. CT.

Pro Volleyball Federation is REAL PRO VOLLEYBALL and the premier women's professional volleyball league in North America, featuring world-class players and coaches. For more information, visit ProVolleyball.com

🔼 Home-Court Advantage x 5. The Auburn women's basketball team will play the first of five straight home games Wednesday night when the Tigers welcome Alabama State to Neville Arena. Game time is 7 p.m. CT; doors open at 6 p.m.

The Tigers (7-2) enter Wednesday's game on a four-game win streak, including two straight road victories at UAB and Little Rock. It will be Auburn's first home game since Nov. 30. Alabama State (0-7) has played six of its first seven games away from home, with three coming against Power Five opponents (Alabama, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma).

Wednesday's game is Greek/HBCU Night. Tickets are available at the arena ticket office on gameday or in advance by visiting AUBTix.com.

AN AUBURN WIN WOULD...
››          Improve the Tigers' record to 8-2.
››          Give Auburn a five-game winning streak.
››          Keep the Tigers unbeaten all-time against Alabama State.

Auburn plays the second of five straight at home Saturday when Norfolk State visits Neville Arena. Game time is 2 p.m. CT.

🔼 Just BP Being BP. When it comes to pressers, you do NOT want to miss one from beloved men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl. Although he is the biggest supporter of Auburn Athletics and can be seen at plenty of other sporting events besides MBB, he also doesn’t mince words.

Apparently, someone asked him a question after the Tigers’ recent resounding win over blue blood team Indiana, and BP did not hold back on what he thought about the question.

The person said, “Coach, you guys played really, really well. How are you guys going to get the guys to play like that every night?”

🎤⬇️

BP looked at him and said, “It’s a good thing for you I’m not Bob Knight because he would wear you out right now.”

🔼 Down the Line. Auburn women's tennis head coach Caroline Lilley announced the team's 2024 spring match slate on Monday.

The Tigers' non-conference schedule is among the strongest in the nation, including road matches against defending national champion North Carolina as well as Texas and Pepperdine, which each finished the 2023 season ranked inside the ITA top 10.

The team travels to Durham, North Carolina, for this season's ITA Kickoff Weekend on January 26-27, competing against Denver, Princeton and Duke for a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The championship will be held in Seattle, Washington, on Feb. 9-12.

Auburn is slated to begin conference play in March with four consecutive home matches against Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Missouri and Arkansas, followed by four straight conference matches on the road. The 2024 SEC Championships will be hosted by Georgia in Athens on April 17-21.

🤔 TIGER TRIVIA

A Lofty Perspective. With such huge news about Auburn volleyball player Kyla Swanson being drafted by the Omaha Supernovas, today’s trivia turns to the ultra-talented athlete.

Considering Swanson was second on the squad this season in both hitting percentage (.310), total blocks (1.29) and blocks per set (1.11), she has to be pretty dang tall, right? That brings us to today’s question—how tall is Kyla Swanson?
