Bodda Getta Daily Brew 12/5: Name, Image and Likeness Master Class
Today, the On to Victory Collective & Elijah McAllister expand its reach to help student-athletes.
Good morning. On To Victory is the official NIL Collective of Auburn Athletics. Over 300 student-athletes in 15 sports are served by On To Victory. From now through Dec. 20th, On To Victory is in a fund drive to reach at least 5,000 subscribers. If so, an anonymous donor will match with a $1 million donation!
Brett Whiteside is the Executive Director of On To Victory. Jack Linebacker Elijah McCallister has bankrolled his NIL deal to fund a foundation in his name to help children in Lee County. Both are on this week’s Talking Tigers Podcast to talk about the importance of On To Victory.

🔼 From Russia With Love. Former UCF tennis standout Valeriya Zeleva joins the Auburn coaching staff as an assistant coach, head coach Caroline Lilley announced on Monday.
"Valeriya has established herself as one of the best in the world every step of her career," said Lilley. "As an elite junior, collegiate and professional player, she brings invaluable experience and knowledge to our program.”
The most decorated women's tennis player in UCF program history, Zeleva was named American Athletic Conference Player of the Year in both 2019 and 2021. The Moscow, Russia, native was also a two-time participant in the NCAA Singles Championships and a selection for the NCAA Doubles Championships.
Following her collegiate career, Zeleva picked up extensive experience in professional tennis and earned Women's Tennis Association rankings of 539th in singles and 664th in doubles.
"Being part of a program with a rich legacy and an engaged community is truly an honor,” said Zeleva.
🔼 Calm, Cool and “Collective”. Andy Burcham sat down with the Executive Director of the On to Victory Collective, Brett Whiteside, and Auburn jack linebacker Elijah McAllister in the all-new pod center to discuss this huge NIL fundraiser.
“The more speaking opportunities I have, the more I realize this is still an education process,” said Whiteside during the Talking Tigers Podcast. “We still have to let people know what Name, Image and Likeness means.”
Whiteside goes on to explain that a couple of years ago, the Supreme Court ruled that students in the NCAA could benefit from their name, image and likeness.
“People would like to connect this to pay-to-play, but that’s not what’s going on.”
These athletes participate in awareness campaigns for businesses, doing things like public appearances, social posts/engagements, and videos.
You see plenty of #34 jerseys when you go to Auburn football games, but, as Whiteside points out, Bo Jackson “never earned a dime.”
He further explains all the things that NIL collectives like On To Victory have to do to ensure the authenticity and above-board nature of the campaigns, including signing compliance and transparency pledges. None of the Board of Directors take any of the money, as it goes to the athletes.
Whiteside assures any potential donors to the current campaign that if you donate to On To Victory, “It’s gonna be done right,” telling people to go to OnToVictory.com to see how close they are to meeting that threshold.
Burcham talked to McAllister about the way he’s been able to use his NIL money for good:
“It allows me to use their platform for my purpose, which is to give back to the community,” said McAllister, who noted that the pillars upon which his foundations sit are education and experience. The Auburn football captain—who is getting his Ph.D. at Auburn—said that “the game of football has taken me to many places and spaces I never thought I’d be.”
🔼 The Meet of the Story. The Auburn gymnastics team will return to Neville Arena to host the 2023 Preview Meet presented by On To Victory on Friday, Dec. 15. The meet will start at 7 p.m. CT.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. CT, and admission to the meet will be free. All seats are general admission, with the exception of section B.
A handful of fan experience activities will take place prior to the meet as well as throughout the evening.
Aubie Claus will be in attendance and will be roaming the arena during the contest. There will be a post-meet autograph session where fans can pick up an autograph card.
In addition, the program will be hosting a toy drive to benefit the community during the holiday season.

🤔 TIGER TRIVIA
The Proof is in the Pudding. As Executive Director of the On To Victory collective Brett Whiteside pointed out during his appearance on the most recent episode of the Talking Tigers Podcast, per NCAA rules, some sports offer “equivalency” (or partial) scholarships, while others, such as football and basketball, offer “headcount” (or full) scholarships. As such, many athletes use their NIL money for tuition.
That brings us to today’s trivia question—how many student-athletes are served by the On To Victory collective?
