🎥 WAREAGLE+ TALKING TIGERS

Talking Tigers - Mark Chapman (Pt .1)
He planned to walk on at Florida. Mark Chapman didn’t even know Auburn was in the state of Alabama. Auburn Assistant Coach Steve Renfroe came to Orlando to recruit Chapman’s catcher at Boone High School. That catcher, Joe Oliver, went to pro ball. Chapman pitched that day and caught Renfroe’s eye. By the time Chapman left Auburn, his name was prominent in the record books and still is today.

This is Part 1 of Mark Chapman in the Talking Tigers Podcast.

🔼 Hogan’s Hero. Auburn men's golfer Jackson Koivun won the 2024 Ben Hogan Award, the Hogan Foundation announced Monday. Koivun joins Oklahoma State's Rickie Fowler (2008) as the only two freshman winners in the award's history. He is the second Auburn player to win, joining Will Blackmon, who captured the honor in 1994.

The Ben Hogan Award honors the top men's college golfer based on collegiate, amateur and professional events over the previous 12 months.

🔼 The Ike 'n' Cade Brigade. The 2024 SEC baseball awards have been announced, with Ike Irish earning First Team All-SEC honors and Cade Belyeu named to the Freshman All-SEC Team.

Previously named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List and Buster Posey Award Watch List, Irish led the Tigers in average (.319) and RBI (59) and tied for the team lead in home runs (14).

Belyeu ended up hitting .284 in 38 games and 26 starts in his first season on The Plains. Fifteen of his 27 hits were for extra bases, leading to his team-best .632 slugging percentage.

🔼 International Man of Mystery. Although it is over 2,500 miles from his hometown of Vancouver, Canada, senior Raul Dobai calls Auburn home after spending the last three seasons on The Plains. Born in Romania, Dobai and his family emigrated to Canada when he was 14 years old. There, he played junior tennis for Tennis Canada with multiple junior titles before making the decision to move south to attend the University of New Mexico in the United States.

Dobai's success continued with the Lobos, where he was named Mountain West Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year while leading the squad to a conference championship in 2021. However, he says Auburn made him the man he is today.

🔼 Fore an Amazing Cause. Before the participants in Bruce Pearl's 11th annual Fore the Children Golf Classic climbed into their carts and motored away Monday toward their first holes, the event's namesake thanked them for supporting Auburn men's basketball on the court and in the community.

"Bottom line, we've done that together," said Pearl, entering his 11th season on the Plains. "Whether it be what we do with AUTLIVE, or what we're doing here, or what we're doing on the basketball court, we're doing it together…”
