Bodda Getta Daily Brew 1/23: It's a Hardwood Life
After a huge win over Alabama by WBB and a No. 8 AP poll ranking for MBB, Auburn hoops are going off
Good morning. Auburn men’s basketball moved up five spots to be ranked No. 8 from No. 13 in the Jan. 22 edition of the Associated Press top 25 poll.
The Tigers have won 11 straight games and are 16-2 overall and 5-0 in the SEC. Auburn is alone in first place early into SEC play.
This is the first time Auburn has been ranked in the top 10 since the final poll of the 2021-22 season.
Not to be outdone, Auburn women’s basketball used a stellar start and a fabulous finish to defeat Alabama 78-65 Sunday at Neville Arena.
As you’ve likely heard MBB head coach Bruce Pearl say many times, “Auburn is an everything school.” But it’d be pretty hard for anyone at this point to say that the Tigers are not fully legit in hoops.

📹 TALKING TIGERS: MIKE LUTZENKIRCHEN
Mike Lutzenkirchen's life changed on a Sunday morning in June of 2014. He and his family returned from mass. He learned that his son, Phillip, had been killed in a traffic accident early that morning. The former Auburn tight end was dead at the age of 23. From this tragedy, the Lutzie 43 Foundation (www.Lutzie43.org) was formed. The foundation is used to inspire people to make better decisions behind the wheel. Mike continues to speak to groups of all ages across the country. Mike Lutzenkirchen and the Lutzie 43 Foundation are featured in this Talking Tigers Podcast.

Multiple All-American honorees and state champs highlight yet another stellar class for Crouch and his staff as the program continues to reach new milestones on the Plains.

🔼 Points Made. The Auburn gymnastics team is currently ranked No. 13 in this week's RoadToNationals.com rankings after improving their average to 196.883 after scoring another 197.025 last Friday vs. Florida in Neville Arena.
"Our ranking this week shows that we are slowly improving," head coach Jeff Graba said. "However, we have a big task ahead of us going on the road to No. 4 Arkansas. We are capable of performing better, and we will need to start doing that in order for our ranking to continue to improve."
Auburn's floor squad has stood out, ranking 12th nationally with a 49.375 average.
Individually, fifth-year Cassie Stevens is No. 23 in the all-around with a 39.425 average. She is in the top 50 on floor with a 9.892 average after tying her career high with a 9.925 vs. Florida last week.
Senior Gabby McLaughlin is ranked 16th on beam after scoring a 9.950 on Friday, having a 9.9 average.
Auburn and Arkansas will face off this Friday at 6:45 p.m. CT on SEC Network+ in Fayetteville.
🤔 TIGER TRIVIA
Bringing the Neville Noise. With the Auburn MBB team facing rival Alabama tomorrow, it’s time to take a look back at the history there.
While Alabama leads in the overall series, the number of wins vs. losses for Auburn at home shows there is something to be said for the overzealous (well, perfectly zealous) hometown crowd at Neville Arena.
That brings us to today’s question—in the 65 games played between the Tigers and the Crimson Tide on The Plains, how many wins versus losses are there?

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER
Answer: Auburn’s record at home vs. Alabama is 35-30
The Tigers will need to channel that hometown energy as they travel to Tuscaloosa for the 6:30 p.m. CT game tomorrow, especially considering they’re in pursuit of their 12th consecutive win and a record of 6-0 in the SEC.
