🔼 Weather or Not? Adjusting last minute is the theme of the season, as No. 25 Auburn softball (7-2-1) now preps for a seven-game homestand that begins tonight at 6 p.m. with the addition of a midweek tilt with Georgia State ahead of the Jane B. Moore Memorial Tournament.

"We've got really good competition over the next four days," said head coach Mickey Dean. "These are teams that usually compete for their conference championships. It's going to be a great challenge for us. Of course, we get to deal with rain again. Hopefully, we're able to get in some games and are really tested before we head into SEC play."

In the final weekend before the start of Southeastern Conference play, Auburn hosts the third annual Jane B. Moore Memorial Tournament. The Tigers take on USC Upstate (7-7) and Northwestern (7-4) on Friday, beginning at 1 p.m. CT. The first 100 fans at Jane B. Moore Field will receive a collectable Jane B. Moore Memorial pennant. Pennants will be available at 3 p.m. CT.

With inclement weather in the forecast throughout the weekend, fans are encouraged to check Auburn Softball's social media accounts any schedule updates.

🔼 Legend…Wait for It…Ary. Cliff Ellis, who coached Auburn for 10 seasons from 1994-2004, will be honored as one of 14 former greats from all Southeastern Conference member institutions, as part of SEC Men's Legends Presented by Allstate® at the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament on March 13-17 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

Each legend will be recognized during halftime of their team's first game of the tournament, as well as a group introduction at halftime of the first semifinal game on Saturday.

Announcing his retirement from coaching in December of 2023, Ellis finished his illustrious career as the ninth all-time winningest coach in NCAA Division I history with 831 wins combined at South Alabama (1975-1984), Clemson (1984-1994), Auburn (1994-2004) and Coastal Carolina (2007-2023).

Go here to read about his many career accomplishments.

🔼 Rookie Shmookie. For the second time this season and after pushing the Tigers to a second-place finish at the Southern Highlands Collegiate as well as earning a sixth consecutive top-20 individual placement, Auburn men's golfer Jackson Koivun has been awarded SEC's Freshman Golfer of the Week.

Koivun has also won Player of the Week on three occasions.

The rookie from Chapel Hill, North Carolina shot 70-70-71 (-5) to finish tied for fourth overall. He beat the nearest freshman by five strokes and the nearest freshman from the SEC by seven strokes.

Koivun and the No. 1 Tigers return to action next week, March 4-5, at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate at historic Pinehurst No. 2 in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

🔼 A Silver Lining. No. 2 Auburn men's golf left the Southern Highlands Collegiate with silver following a masterful 11-under showing Tuesday.

After beginning the tournament in 10th, the Tigers pieced together back-to-back quality outings to roar eight spots up the leaderboard and end the week in second with a grand total of 859 (-5). No. 15 Oklahoma edged the Tigers by three strokes, winning the event at 856 (-8).

"It was a challenge every step of the way with the firmness, speed, hole locations and strong wind,” Auburn head coach Nick Clinard said. “It's weeks like these where our culture pays off. Having a group dedicated to playing for the brand and for each other is what makes us special."

With the finish, Auburn improves to 78-4 (.951) overall and 24-4 (.857) against top-25 opponents.

It's a quick turnaround for the Tigers as the team is set to compete at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate at historic Pinehurst No. 2 March 4-5. Auburn will travel five team players and one individual to the event.

🔼 Elite Feet 💨. After a successful showing at the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships, seven Tigers were named to an All-SEC team.

Freshman Kanyinsola Ajayi was named to the All-SEC First Team and senior Ryan Kinnane, juniors Louis O'Loughlin and Simone Johnson, sophomores Paula Grauvogel and LeBron Bessick and freshman Max Hardin were named to All-SEC Second Team.

The seventh place, 41-point showing for the women was their best finish at the meet since 2012. The men earned 29 points to finish 11th.

Ajayi became the third Auburn man to win gold in the 60m in the last four years. His time was 6.60. He joined Favour Ashe and Dante Brown who won in 2023 and 2021, respectively. His win as a freshman marked the first by an Auburn male at SEC Indoors in 24 years when Sajay Ayre won the 400m dash.

🔼 Victory to Vols. No. 11 Auburn claimed an eight-point lead midway through the second half but Dalton Knecht took over down the stretch to lead No. 4 Tennessee to a 92-84 victory Wednesday at Thompson-Boling Arena.

"I'm proud of the kids," Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said. "It was a really good contest, Two really good teams who wanted to win it really badly. We did enough things to win the game. We score 84 points on the road against a really good defensive team like Tennessee, you should be able to win."

The Tigers (21-7, 10-5) return to Neville Arena Saturday to play Mississippi State at 3 p.m. CT.

"We came here to try to win a championship. That's what the kids were playing for," Pearl said. "Mississippi State is going to be really tough."
