Bodda Getta Daily Brew 8/6: Holiday Hoopla
Auburn will play Ohio State in this December's Holiday Hoopsgiving event
Good Morning, Auburn Family. For the fifth consecutive year, the Auburn men’s basketball program will participate in Holiday Hoopsgiving in Atlanta.
This year’s edition will pit the Tigers against Ohio State on Saturday, Dec. 14 (time TBD). It will be the second all-time meeting between the two schools, as they last met in the 1999 NCAA Sweet 16 (L, 64-72) in Knoxville, Tennessee.
“We were the first and have been the only SEC school to play every year in this important event for college basketball in Atlanta—home to some of the best high school basketball in America,” head coach Bruce Pearl said.

🎥 WAREAGLE+: TALKING TIGERS
Talking Tigers - Jason Campbell
This season marks the 20th anniversary of Auburn’s 2004 SEC Championship. The Tigers were the last SEC undefeated team that was denied a chance to play for a national championship. By the time his senior season came about, Jason Campbell was playing for his fourth offensive coordinator in as many seasons. Al Borges came in, and a senior-heavy, healthy offense took off. Campbell was the SEC Player of the Year.
This Talking Tigers Podcast features Jason Campbell, the quarterback for Auburn’s 2004 SEC Championship team and Andy Burcham’s partner on the Auburn Sports Network.

🔼 Some Well Deserved Flowers. After assisting Auburn in one of the most historic runs in collegiate golf, Chris Williams has been named one of three finalists for the 2024 Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award.
The Strickland Award is presented annually to the NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, or NJCAA assistant coach who, among other things, has excelled in working with their student-athletes both on the course and in the classroom.
In his third season with the Tigers, Williams helped guide Auburn to the program’s first National Championship and fifth SEC Championship. Along the way, the Tigers also doubled the previous school record for wins in a season with 10, picking up seven in a row to close out the year.
🔼 Nothing “Mid” About This Midfielder. Anna Haddock, a graduate midfielder for the Tigers, is known for her leadership and excellence on and off the field.
During her sophomore year, Haddock was named to the U-23 Women’s Youth National Team.
“I was invited as an alternate late, so I found out on Thursday and had to get on a flight Friday morning to Oregon,” said Haddock. “I got to play with some players that had been killing it in the NWSL, which is really awesome. I think I walked away a better player and more confident in myself knowing that I can play against anybody.”
Haddock has played and started in 76 matches, tallying 18 goals and 31 assists.
“I think everyone can count on me to put in the work on both sides of the field,” Haddock said.
Read On the Plains With Anna Haddock for more on her best game (vs. BYU), her success in the classroom and her goal to inspire young female athletes.

🔼 Anything But Amateur Hour. Recent Auburn graduate Megan Schofill aims to defend her title, and sophomore Anna Davis eyes another deep run at the 2024 U.S. Women’s Amateur, which began yesterday at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Schofill became the first Auburn player to win the event last year, defeating Latanna Stone 4&3 in the 36-hole championship match.
Davis will be returning to the event after a quarterfinalist finish in 2023. Davis posted a 3-over 143 in the stroke play portion of the championship to qualify for the match play portion, where she earned wins over Amanda Sambach, Camille Boyd and Anne Chen.
