📈 STOCK UP

🔼 History Repeats. It’s been 16 years since an Auburn football player intercepted a pass in three straight games—and on Saturday night, Jaylin Simpson matched the feat by snagging his third interception in as many games to begin the 2023 season.

"Sixteen years. That's a long time," Simpson said. "That's a good feeling. I'm going to try to do my best to get one every game. I don't really like to call them picks. I like to call them blessings. It's just a real blessing to catch those.

"I always say history repeats itself. I'm glad I could be a part of it."

🔼 Listen Up. Will Herring rarely played defense at Opelika High School. He was a quarterback. But by the time he arrived at Auburn University, he played only defense. A safety until his senior season, he moved to linebacker and that's where he played in the NFL for eight years along with special teams.

This season he began first season as a sideline reporter for Auburn football broadcasts on the Auburn Sports Network. Earlier this year, he was inducted in the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame. It was the last game he played for Auburn in a win over Nebraska.

Will Herring is featured in this Talking Tigers Podcast, brought to you by Alabama Public Health.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Jerraud Powers!

In 2007, Jerraud Powers picked off a pass in three straight games—starting with Tennessee Tech, including Georgia, and ending with an Iron Bowl interception against Alabama.

In Case You Were Wondering: The single-season Auburn record is nine interceptions, set by Buddy McClinton way back in 1969.

🐅 Have a great Tuesday, y’all.
