📹 THE FLIGHT ON WAREAGLE+

Time to Soar. A new season of Auburn basketball is taking flight on WarEagle+. The Flight kicks off with preseason workouts and practice, a trip to The Big Apple, and a blue blood battle against Indiana.

📈 STOCK UP

As Parrish writes in his column, “If not for Auburn coach Bruce Pearl scheduling a game at Appalachian State earlier this month that most high-major coaches would never schedule, Auburn would likely already be in the AP poll,” noting the 28-point win over Indiana, the 17-point wins over St. Bonaventure and Virginia Teach and the 16-point win over USC.

“So, barring a surprise,” Parrish goes on to impart, “Auburn will enter the SEC portion of its schedule with an 11-2 record and should be considered among the contenders to win the conference championship that Pearl has already won three times…”

🔼 As the Crowe Flies. Auburn men’s golf alum Trace Crowe fired a 67 (-3) Monday to finish second at Q-School presented by Korn Ferry at Dye’s Valley Course in Ponte Vedra Beach Florida, and earn his first PGA Tour card.

Crowe’s week consisted of a 69, 65, 68 and a 67. He finished 11 strokes below par, five back of the lead. This year, the top five and ties at Q-School received PGA Cards. The next 40 and ties received full status on the Korn Ferry Tour for next season.

The 2019 graduate nearly earned his card through the points list in the 2023 season after finishing 38th overall. He made nine cuts and carded four top-25 outings, highlighted by the first win of his professional career at the NV5 Invitational hosted by Illinois’ The Glen Club in late July.

At Auburn, Crowe was a two-time All-SEC and three-time All-Region player. In 2018, he led the program to a fourth SEC crown and its first-ever Final Four appearance.

Another Tigers golf alum, Patton Kizzire (2008), earned full KFT membership with a tied for 64th showing.

🔼 He Calls It As He Sees It. The latest episode of the Talking Tigers Podcast features the impressive career of Dave Neal.

Outside of Jim Fyffe, Rod Bramblett and Andy Burcham, no one has called more Auburn football, men's basketball and baseball events than Dave. The Florida State alum caught the broadcasting bug by following his father to games. Bob Neal was an Atlanta fixture in news and eventually sports, calling the Atlanta Falcons.

Dave has worked for Fox Sports South, JP and now ESPN and the SEC Network. This interview took place after Auburn's win at Arkansas.

🔼 This Kidd’s Going Places. Another day, another victory for sophomore Kyleigh Kidd. The Southlake, Texas native put up another career-high 322.55 to win the 3-meter while another handful of Tigers collected zones scores Monday inside James E. Martin Aquatics Center.

Meanwhile, Ashlynn Sullivan grabbed a spot on the podium with a solid 294.60 and third place in the finals. Abigail Farrar earned second place with a strong prelims performance and delivered a 271.95 and fourth overall.

The Auburn men took to the boards for the first time during the week. Whit Andrus paced the Tigers with a season-best 351.15 in his second list to take third overall, with Hunter Kebler finishing just behind him in fourth, conjuring a 293.75 in finals.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Coach Freeze and the Auburn Tigers signed 19 players on National Signing Day last year.

Loading up on linemen, Auburn coach Hugh Freeze and his staff rocketed into the top 20 of the 2023 recruiting rankings by landing 19 future Tigers in the early signing period.

“A wild two weeks for us,” said Freeze, who was introduced as Auburn’s head coach on Nov. 29. “We came into this considerably behind what I think Auburn should be in recruiting.”

Thanking assistant coaches Carnell Williams and Zac Etheridge, along with Auburn’s recruiting staff, for keeping the class together during a head coaching transition, Freeze said the signees and their families bought into the opportunity to rebuild the Tigers’ program.

“There’s something special that could be occurring here,” Freeze said.  “I tried to sell that to these kids to be part of the resurgence. They’re setting the tone with our returning guys.”

🐅 Have a great Tuesday, y’all!
