SEC welcomes Oklahoma + Texas to men's hoops as 2024-2025 schedule is announced

Good Morning, Auburn Family. The Southeastern Conference has announced each school's conference opponents for the 2024-25 men’s basketball season. The league welcomes two new members into the fold—Oklahoma and Texas.

SEC play tips off on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, and runs through Saturday, March 8. Each team will play the other 15 teams at least once during league play. Three teams will play a second time during the schedule – two of which are permanent opponents and one that will change each year.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼  Stacked Against Samford. Winners of four of its last five games, Auburn (25-25) begins the last week of the regular season with a matchup against Samford (33-18) today at 6 p.m. CT at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.

The Tigers are 10-1 in midweek games this season and have outscored the opponent 92-33. The pitching staff has held the midweek opponent to three or fewer runs in eight of 11 games and has turned in a 2.94 ERA in midweek competition. Auburn led the league with 12 home runs last week while tying for the league lead with 39 runs and tying for second with 44 hits.

🔼 No Rookie Mistakes. Auburn golf's Jackson Koivun continued his postseason tear as the rookie carded a 2-under 70 Monday at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional to lead the Tiger lineup and set a new program single-season record with 25 rounds below par.

As a team, No. 1 Auburn turned in a 285 (-3) in the opener to hold strong in second place. The Tigers trail No. 12 Virginia by five strokes heading into Tuesday's middle round. They’ll need to finish top five following Wednesday's third round in order to punch its ticket to the 2024 NCAA Championship.

🔼 M-2 Return is Twice as Nice. Mary Meneely will return to the Auburn equestrian coaching staff as associate head coach and will replace Taylor Searles—who stepped down to pursue other opportunities—as the team's Western coach. During her two years away from the Plains, Meneely ran Coach Mary Meneely Consulting, which provided mentoring to youth riders looking to compete in college by delivering top-tier coaching, clinics and lessons.

Meneely was on the Auburn staff for seven seasons from 2015-16 through 2021-22. While at Auburn, she helped the Tigers win three national titles (2016, 2018, 2019) and five Southeastern Conference championships (2016, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022). In addition, Meneely was a part of the Auburn staff that led the team to two undefeated seasons – 2018-19 and 2019-20.

🔼 Put Another Record On. No Auburn golfer has fired more subpar rounds in a season than Jackson Koivun.
