Bodda Getta Daily Brew 12/6: Fair Weather With a Chance of Awards

Today, several members of the Tigers football team have received All-SEC honors.

Good morning. Auburn's Rivaldo Fairweather, Jaylin Simpson and Jarquez Hunter earned All-SEC honors, having been voted to the 2023 Second Team All-SEC by the league's coaches.

Simpson intercepted passes in Auburn's first three games and another against Georgia to finish the season with four interceptions and 87 return yards, including a pick-six vs. Massachusetts.

Hunter led Auburn with 865 yards rushing on 146 attempts, averaging 5.9 yards per carry.

In his first season on the Plains, Fairweather made 33 receptions for 349 yards and six touchdowns, leading Auburn receivers in all three categories.

On Monday, Simpson and defensive lineman Marcus Harris earned first-team All-SEC honors by the Associated Press, while Fairweather and offensive lineman Gunner Britton were named to the AP's All-SEC second team.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 She’s Gonna Need a Bigger Trophy Shelf. Another day, another accolade for sophomore outside hitter Madison Scheer, who was named AVCA All-South Region on Tuesday.

Putting together one of the more remarkable seasons in program history, the Eureka, Missouri native solidified career highs in kills per set (3.35), hitting percentage (.263), points per set (3.60) and blocks per set (0.47).

Scheer was also named All-SEC for the first time in her career last month after picking up All-Freshmen honors following her rookie campaign.

Twice, Scheer was voted SEC Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts throughout this year. After a brilliant weekend, picking up 14 kills on .667 hitting in a win over then-No. 9 Florida and 19 more kills on .371 hitting versus South Carolina, she became just the second Tiger in program history to win AVCA National Player of the Week on Oct. 10.

Scheer becomes the third student-athlete under head coach Brent Crouch to earn All-Region honors at Auburn. Both Akasha Anderson and Kendal Kemp picked up the award in 2022. In total, Crouch has now guided seven players to All-Region status throughout his 10-year coaching career.

🔼 At Your Service. The Auburn men's tennis 2024 spring schedule was released by head coach Bobby Reynolds on Monday.

The spring slate is highlighted by ITA Kickoff Weekend in Athens, Georgia and non-conference road matches against Wisconsin and Notre Dame. In addition to hosting 11 home matches throughout the spring, Auburn will also be defending its title at the Blue-Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Alabama.

The Tigers' first dual match of the season will be at home on Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. CT against Samford at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. The 2024 SEC Championship will be hosted by LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on April 17-21.
