🔼 Check Your Six. Entering last night’s match, Auburn soccer had dropped nine-straight contests to Arkansas—but last night, junior Sydnie Thibodaux flipped the script and unleashed a go-ahead laser in the 60th minute to secure the 2-1 upset over the No. 6 Razorbacks at the Auburn Soccer Complex.

The win locked down Auburn's first top-10 victory since 2017, when it defeated No. 10 Florida 1-0, and solidifies its highest caliber upset since defeating No. 5 Duke in 2011.

It was a fight to the finish at the SMU Classic this weekend as the Auburn swimming & diving teams narrowly missed out on first place finishes—the men’s team narrowly missed a victory, finishing second just one point behind Louisville and the women’s team dialed up solid swims across the board to finish third overall.

🔼 It’s All In A Data’s Work. The first time Tennessee came to Auburn's campus marked the first time Tommy Elliott worked on the football stat crew.

"September of '74," recalled Elliott, a native of the Volunteer State who at that time served as Auburn University's assistant director of admissions.

Elliott's boss, Hub Hawkins, recruited Tommy to join him spotting on the stat crew.

"When I was standing behind him, he said, 'You back me up,'" remembered Elliott. "So I did."

The next season, 1975, Hawkins spotted Auburn's offense while Elliott handled the spotting when Auburn was on defense, a job he still holds a half century later.

"It seems impossible to have done this for 50 years and only be 39 years of age," Elliott joked.

🏈 Coach George Petrie helped kick off the Auburn football program by coaching for one season, the program’s first in 1892—and he’s also remembered for writing the Auburn Creed. John Heisman coached from 1895-1899, Mike Donahue did so from 1904 to 1922, and Jack Meagher was the head coach from 1934-1942.
