🔼 Johni Broome Still Sweeping Up. Junior forward Johni Broome has been named to the preseason All-SEC First Team as selected by a panel of both SEC and national media members. The Tigers' top returning scorer (14.2 ppg), rebounder (8.4 rpg), and shot blocker (2.4 bpg)—Broome also received votes in Player of the Year voting.

Last year, he was honored on the All-SEC Second Team and USBWA All-District IV Team, leading the Tigers to an NCAA Tournament berth. He was one of nine players in the SEC to rank in the Top 15 in both the scoring and rebounding columns. Broome also ranked 10th nationally in blocks per game.

One of the Top 40 returning players in the country, he was invited to participate in the NBA G League Elite Camp and the NBA Draft Combine this summer.

🏀 The countdown is officially on for the start of the men’s basketball team and women’s basketball team seasons.

🔼 Shanks For Nothing. Actually, there wasn’t a yip… or a hook… or a shank in sight when No. 1 Auburn men's golf earned its third title of the fall season, running away with a 19-shot victory at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational in Biloxi, Mississippi.

For the week, the Tigers shot 21-under 843 and were led by freshman Jackson Koivun, who finished second at 7-under 209.

"We played for each other this week, which is why we played so great," Koivun said. "We're extremely proud of our performance this fall, but championships are won in the spring. Need to keep grinding and getting better so that we can continue our hot streak when it matters most."

Four tournaments into his collegiate career, Koivun already owns two silver podium finishes and has yet to finish outside the top 20. At Fallen Oak, he was the highest-placing golfer from the Southeastern Conference, regardless of class. Koivun beat the nearest freshman by 14 shots.

On the final day—the Chapel Hill, North Carolina native signed for a 68 (-4). He played a nearly impeccable round with just one bogey on 3 and five birdies on 1, 2, 5, 7, and 15. Koivun led the field with 17 total birdies over his three rounds.

Up next, the Tigers have a small break before closing the fall season at one of the sport's most legendary courses, Cypress Point. Auburn heads to Monterey, California, for an eight-team Ryder Cup-style tournament Oct. 30-31.

🤔 TIGER TRIVIA

Killer question. We already mentioned Madison Scheer’s epic kills in her position as an outside hitter on the Auburn volleyball team this season, but there is one player on the team who has her beat in that statistical category—Akasha Anderson.

Madison Scheer has 210 kills on the season. How many do you think Akasha Anderson has?

🐅 ONE BIG THING

Just plain busy. Clear your calendars, Auburn athletics fans, as this weekend is jam-packed with events—including the highly-anticipated football game versus rival Ole Miss.
