🔼 It’s an Alabama Showdown. Auburn Volleyball (7-1,0-0) and head coach Brent Crouch are headed north to Birmingham for the second edition of the Alabama Showdown today through Saturday (Sept. 19-21) at Bartow Arena. 

Last season in Mobile, the Tigers swept through UAB, Samford and South Alabama to bring the title belt back to the Plains. Auburn kicks off the last weekend of non-conference action on Thursday, Sept.19, against Samford before facing host UAB on Sept. 20 and South Alabama on Sept. 21.

🔼 Davis Does it Again. Auburn sophomore Anna Davis earned the initial SEC Player of the Week honor for the 2024-25 season. This marks the second career SEC weekly honor for Davis, named SEC Freshman of the Week in April.

The Auburn sophomore was tabbed SEC Co-Player of the Week after recording an individual runner-up finish in the Tigers’ season opener at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, South Carolina. Davis did not record a round over par on her way to a 6-under 207 for the event.

Auburn took home the team title behind Davis’ stellar performance. The team carded a 54-hole score of 847 (-5) and won the event by a shot.

🔼 The Koivun Train Keeps Rollin’. One tournament into his sophomore season on The Plains, Jackson Koivun is already collecting honors as he was named the Southeastern Conference’s Golfer of the Week. 

At last week’s season-opening Inverness Intercollegiate, Koivun shot 63-65-70 (-9) to cruise to his third career medalist performance. His 14 birdies tied for tops in the 85-man field. 

For Koivun, the recognition marks his ninth career conference weekly honor. As a freshman, he was awarded Golfer of the Week on three occasions and Freshman of the Week on five occasions. He went on to earn both SEC Freshman and Golfer of the Year at the end of the 2023-24 season. 

🔼 Perfection Pending. Auburn soccer officially kickstarts Southeastern Conference play this week as the No. 6 Tigers host Vanderbilt for a 6:30 p.m. CT faceoff tonight at the Auburn Soccer Complex.

With a 2-0 win over Old Dominion last week, Auburn (8-0-0) closed out its nonconference slate undefeated. The Tigers join No. 13 Oklahoma State as the only two Division I programs that have yet to concede a goal this season.

The all-time series between Auburn and Vanderbilt is fairly even, with the Tigers holding a slight 10-8-5 advantage. However, it has been eight years since the last Auburn victory.

Both programs last met in 2022 when a last-minute goal from the Commodores sealed a 1-1 tie. Auburn returns nine players who saw time in the match, including four starters.

🔼 Pearl’s Promotion. Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl has promoted Reagan Sparks from student manager to graduate assistant.

A recent Auburn graduate, Sparks earned her bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering with a minor in supply chain management from the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. Her duties include assisting with team travel, day-to-day operations, and data and analytics.
