Suni Lee picks up a BRONZE medal in the 2024 Olympics all-around final!
Good Morning, Auburn Family. Auburn’s Sunisa Lee put together an epic Thursday to win another medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, taking bronze in the all-around final with a 56.465. Lee won gold in the all-around final at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
“It has taken so much to get here,” Lee said. “I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it because I didn’t think that I could.”
“It was just so much fun to see her out there in her element again after all that she’s been through,” Auburn head coach Jeff Graba said.
Simone Biles won gold for the United States with a 59.131.
Up next, Lee will go for gold on the uneven bars (August 4, 8:40 a.m. CT) and beam (August 5, 5:36 a.m. CT).

🔼 This One Time, at Football Camp. Thankful to be starting his second preseason camp at Auburn, head coach Hugh Freeze shared his team’s theme Thursday before the Tigers’ first workout, 30 days prior to the season opener.
“Gratitude,” said Freeze, recapping his message from Wednesday’s team meeting. I should be grateful for every single day that I have.”
Team building, Freeze said, happens when players don’t criticize teammates who aren’t present, when team members maximize each day, and when they share resources with others.

🔼 Houston, We Have No Problem. The Auburn men’s basketball team has added another Top 10 matchup to its non-conference schedule. The Tigers officially signed a two-year series with Houston on Thursday.
United Sports & Entertainment (@USportsEnt) brings high-level college basketball to the cities of Houston, Texas, and Birmingham, Ala., with The Battleground 2k hoops series headlined by the two powerhouses out of the SEC and Big 12.
The first game in the series will be played on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Toyota Center in Houston, and the following year at Legacy Arena in Birmingham, at a date yet to be determined.
In this year’s event, Rice (American Athletic) and Florida State (ACC) will play each other in Game One before Auburn and Houston in Game Two.

🔼 Good Scott? No, Great Scott. The Louisville Sports Commission has announced that senior defensive back Keionte Scott, the SEC’s leading punt returner in 2023 and the leader of Auburn’s secondary, has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2024 Paul Hornung Award.
Entering his third season at Auburn, Scott averaged 14.8 yards per punt return last season while making 44 tackles. He earned SEC special teams player of the week honors after returning a punt 74 yards for a touchdown vs. Arkansas on Nov. 11, 2023.
The Paul Hornung Award is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football.
🔼 A Truly Good Deal. Senior tight end Luke Deal has made contributions on and off the field since he arrived at Auburn. On Thursday, Deal was recognized for those contributions off the field as he was named to the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List for the 2024 season.
College Football’s Premier Award for Community Service and one of the most meaningful awards in collegiate sports, the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy is named after Danny Wuerffel, the 1996 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from the University of Florida who parlayed his success on the football field into a lifetime of service.
