Auburn QB Payton Thorne talks with Andy Burcham about what to expect from this year's offense

Good morning. “How different is this offense?” Andy Burcham asks Auburn Signal Caller Payton Thorne during an interview on WarEagle+.

We’re going to be able to really run the ball this year,” said Thorne. “Play-action is going to be a huge part of our offense.”

Thorne also talked extensively about what Coach Derrick Nix has brought to the table, which has been a sense of urgency, energy and attention to detail.

🔼 This Spring, Everything’s Coming Up Jackson. After leading the Tigers to a third straight win Monday at the Seahawk Intercollegiate, Auburn men's golfer Jackson Koivun was once again recognized as one of the Southeastern Conference's top performers of the week. Koivun earned the nod as SEC Freshman of the Week for a fourth time this season, and he has now been recognized seven times.

🔼 Family Tennis Tree. Auburn senior Adeline Flach had a few choices when deciding where to play in college since she came from an SEC family, but when she came to Auburn, she just knew this was where she wanted to play.

Flach's father, Doug, played tennis at the University of Tennessee, where he was an All-American and went on to compete professionally on the ATP tour, earning a career-high ranking of 108th in singles and 50th in doubles. Her uncle, Ken, also coached tennis at Vanderbilt University, so there was no shortage of tennis in her blood.

"I took a lot of other visits, but Auburn just felt right,” Flach said. “Being in the SEC was important for me since my dad played in it and my uncle coached in it."

🔼 Going Under Water With Logan. In an event where hundredths of a second can be the difference between finishing first or fifth, Auburn swimmer Logan Tirheimer looks for every edge.

Smaller than many sprinters at 6-foot-1, Tirheimer compensates with quick starts off the block and eight powerfully precise kicks over 15 meters below the surface in each of his 25-yard segments.

"I have to do a lot more things right," he said. "My underwaters are probably my strength. It's always faster to swim underwater than it is over the water. You've got to pop your head right at 15.”

Read the feature on Tirheimer for more on his recent record at the 2024 SEC Championships, his recovery from surgery and what Coach Louw says about his protege.

🔼 All Everything. Two members of the No. 14 Auburn gymnastics team were recognized by the Southeastern Conference Wednesday as fifth-year Cassie Stevens and freshman Julianne Huff earned All-SEC recognition for their efforts at the 2024 SEC Championships.

"We are so proud of Cassie and Julianne," head coach Jeff Graba said. "Being in the toughest conference in the country can be challenging to say the least. However, these two have stood up and performed at such a level that they have been named to the most exclusive listing in the sport."

🔼 Making a Racket. Auburn graduate student and women’s tennis team member Selin Ovunc has been named SEC Player of the Week. Ovunc earned the honor after winning two singles matches and two doubles matches over the weekend, helping the Tigers to victories over 33rd-ranked Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

Ovunc was moved up one spot than usual on the Tigers' singles lineup to the No. 4 position in both matches and delivered wins on Friday and Sunday. On Friday, Ovunc came back from a 4-2 deficit to win the opening set in a tiebreaker against Anaelle Leclercq. After dropping the second set, she again prevailed in a tiebreaker during the third set for a 7-6 (4), 2-6, 7-6 (2) victory.
