Auburn left it all on the field for their 4-OT win over Texas A&M on Saturday
Good Morning, Auburn Family. Jarquez Hunter scored three touchdowns, Payton Thorne hit KeAndre Lambert-Smith for the go-ahead 2-point conversion and the Tigers’ defense forced a game-winning incompletion to give Auburn a wild 43-41 four-overtime victory over No. 15 Texas A&M Saturday at sold-out Jordan-Hare Stadium.
"Our kids have fought all year. Give [Texas A&M] credit for coming back, but give our kids credit. I'm ecstatic that our seniors get to go out with their last game in Jordan-Hare being a win like this." - Hugh Freeze, head coach
Auburn (5-6, 2-5) concludes the regular season on Saturday against Alabama in the Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa at 2:30 p.m. CT.

🔼 On the Hardwood From Hawai’i. They’ve had a few days to enjoy sand, sun and the Pacific Ocean; now it’s time for a top 5 matchup: No. 4 Auburn vs. No. 5 Iowa State, the first of three games in three days in the Maui Invitational. Auburn (4-0) and Iowa State (3-0) tip off tonight at 8 p.m. CT on ESPNU.
Depending on tonight’s results, Auburn will play either No. 10 North Carolina or Dayton on Tuesday evening. No. 2 UConn, Memphis, Colorado and Michigan State are in the other bracket. There’s a scenario in which the Tigers could play three top-10 teams in fewer than 48 hours.
🗣“We have a chance to play three great teams on a neutral site and find out where we’re at, but also potentially help our NCAA Tournament resume if we can be competitive.” - Bruce Pearl, head coach

🔼 Ahead of the Pack. On Saturday, Auburn cross country freshman Brenda Jepchirchir ended her debut season with All-America honors at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Madison, Wisconsin. Racing in her fifth meet for the Tigers, Jepchirchir finished 21st in the women’s 6k, crossing the line in 19:51.90. She finished ahead of 234 competitors.
This season, Brenda has put together an amazing freshman campaign, earning SEC Women’s Runner of the Week, SEC Women’s Second Team, SEC Women’s All-Freshman Team, USTFCCCA All-Region honors and SEC Women’s Freshman of the Year.

🔼 Let’s Circle Back On This. Auburn backstrokers Ellie Waldrep and Nate Stoffle each picked up a win in the 200 back on Saturday, capping off a successful midseason invite for the Tigers inside McCauley Aquatic Center for head coach Ryan Wochomurka.
When the dust settled, the Auburn women finished second with 1,374.5 points, and the men snagged third with 1,245 points.

🔼 It Was Sooner Than Later. Madison Scheer and Bella Bella dialed up double-digit kill performances on Sunday evening inside McCasland Field House. Oklahoma’s offense was too much to handle, though, as Auburn fell in four sets, 3-1 (25-20, 25-18, 20-25, 25-19).

🔼 Verklempt. In the words of EUGENE ASANTE on what he’ll miss:
“I'm going to miss the brotherhood within the locker room. I’ll miss Tiger Walks and seeing all the fans cheering for us. I'll miss the little kids telling me I’m their favorite player. From day one, I understood the rich tradition of playing football here at Auburn, understood that it means something to play here to a lot of people, and I wanted to be a part of that.”
Go here to read thoughts from the other seniors—Luke Deal, Jackson Barkley, Philip Blidi, Trill Carter, Ronan Chambers, Oscar Chapman and Josh Cohen.

🔼 Oh, Captain, Our Captain. For Luke and Ansley Deal, naming their son after Luke’s father was an easy decision. Christopher James Deal, born Aug. 14, bears the name of Luke’s dad, Chris Deal, who died In June 2022 of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, two months after Luke and Ansley’s wedding.
“My dad impacted the lives of so many people,” Luke said.
Wearing a tiny No. 86 jersey, Christopher James Deal made his Tiger Walk debut Saturday when Auburn hosted Texas A&M. Luke’s last game at Jordan-Hare Stadium was CJ’s first.
Read the feature on Luke Deal for more on his dad’s impact, juggling football and fatherhood and planting roots in Auburn.
