Good Morning, Auburn Family. Payton Thorne threw five TDs – three to Cam Coleman – and Jarquez Hunter eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the season in Auburn’s 48-14 victory over Louisiana Monroe Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Thorne completed 22 of 32 passes for 286 yards. Coleman tallied 100 yards on eight receptions, thrice reaching the end zone, and Hunter recorded his 11th career hundred-yard game, netting 102 yards on 14 carries.

🗣 “Can’t wait [for Saturday’s home finale against Texas A&M]. It’ll be a tall task. They’re extremely talented. It will be a good test for us.” - Hugh Freeze, head coach

🏀 Auburn MBB hosts North Alabama TONIGHT!
🐅 And much, much more!

🎥 WAREAGLE+: AUBURN ACCESS

🔼 Pearl’s Pristine Preparation. Auburn hosts North Alabama tonight, the Tigers’ last home game before heading to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational.

Whether No. 5 Auburn plays a top-five team on the road or a mid-major at home, the approach remains the same. According to head MBB coach Bruce Pearl, Auburn’s workmanlike approach to preparation pays off.

“This week, we’re not doing anything for Maui a week from now,” Pearl said. “We’re preparing for North Alabama all weekend.”

Looking to improve to 4-0 while playing in front of The Jungle for the last time until Dec. 8, Auburn tips off against tonight at 8 p.m. CT.

🔼 Cool Heads Prevail on the Pitch. Auburn Soccer is moving on to the second round of the NCAA Tournament thanks to a dominating 4-1 victory from the No. 24 Tigers over FIU (13-5-2) Friday night at the Auburn Soccer Complex. This comes after Auburn (13-3-4) finished the regular season undefeated at home for the first time since 2003 with a 9-0-3 record in home contests during the 2024 season.

Up next, Auburn travels to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for a rematch with the No. 10 Ohio State Buckeyes. The match at Spry Stadium is set for Friday, Nov. 22. Game time will be determined shortly.

🔼 Lights, Cam, Action. When he saw a Louisiana Monroe defender jump offside, Cam Coleman knew what to do.

Using the leaping ability that Auburn quarterback Payton Thorne described as “majestic” before the season, the 6-3 freshman jumped and hauled in Thorne’s pass with one hand while turning, landing in bounds and maintaining possession.

“It felt like an instinct,” Coleman said. “We practice it so much. It’s like second nature.”

Read the rest of this week’s football notebook for more on Jarquez Hunter becoming the first Auburn running back since Tank Bigsby in 2021 to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season, kicker Ian Vachon’s Auburn debut and the game being penalty-free.

🔼 The Usual Stellar Suspects. Auburn cross country senior Ryan Kinnane and freshmen Brenda Jepchirchir and Nickson Chebii secure bids to the NCAA Cross Country Championships for their performances at the NCAA South Regional. The first four finishers from the non-automatic qualifying or at-large teams secure an automatic bid to the championships.

The 2024 NCAA Cross Country National Championship will be held on Saturday, November 23rd, in Madison, Wisconsin.

🔼 Toeing the Line. Look beyond the veteran names on an Auburn defense that ranks in the top 25 nationally in seven statistical categories, and you will find several Auburn freshmen learning while doing at the highest level of on-the-job instruction.

The Tigers, allowing just 314.4 total yards and 19.2 points per game, have had some outstanding contributions from players who have yet to become household names.

Read the feature on the defensive line for more on the contributions of Sylvester Smith, JC Hart, Kensley Louidor-Faustin, Demarcus Riddick, Malik Blocton, Kaleb Harris, Amaris Williams, Jay Crawford and A’mon Lane-Ganus.

🔼 Puetz’s Catapult From the Plains. Former Auburn men’s tennis standout Tim Puetz won the Nitto ATP Finals doubles crown with partner Kevin Krawietz on Sunday in Turin, Italy. Puetz and Krawietz became the first eight-seed to ever win the event and also became the first all-German pair to ever win the Nitto ATP Finals doubles crown.

Only eight doubles teams were invited to compete in the Nitto ATP Finals, where pairs were split into two round-robin groups of four. The top two teams from each group advanced to the semifinal round.

🔼 Girl’s Got Hops. Junior Madison Scheer led an impressive effort with a team-high 14 kills in front of a record crowd of 3,940 inside Neville Arena. In the end, it wasn’t enough as Auburn (14-10, 4-9) fell to No. 14 Texas (14-6, 9-3) in three sets, 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-15).

Early and often, Scheer proved why she was a preseason all-SEC selection. The Eureka, Missouri product powered down four kills. Meanwhile, Alexis Dacosta equaled Scheer’s effort in the back row. The Tigers’ junior libero ran down four digs, as did starting setter Kalei Edson
