Bodda Getta Daily Brew 11/15: For All the Marbles

Auburn Football knows it has to win the remaining games to land in a bowl, so there's a lot on the line against ULM

Good Morning, Auburn Family. Coming off a bye week, Auburn has just three games remaining in the regular season, but ask any player on the team, and they will tell you there are four games left.

“We’ve got to keep pushing our minds to be like, ‘We’re making that bowl game,'” senior punter Oscar Chapman said. “It’s like every week now is our Super Bowl.”

The Tigers are 3-6 heading into the final stretch, which means they have to win out against ULM, No. 15 Texas A&M and No. 9 Alabama to become bowl-eligible.

The latter two games feature two of the better teams in the SEC this season, but you can’t win three games in a row if you don’t win the first one, making tomorrow’s home matchup against ULM vitally important.

🔼 Making HERstory. Taliah Scott, who missed the Tigers’ first two games with an injury after transferring from Arkansas, needed less than a minute in an Auburn uniform to show fans what they can expect from one of the SEC’s most prolific scorers.

In her Auburn debut, Scott made three consecutive 3-pointers before the first media timeout, tied the program and arena record with eight 3-pointers and scored 26 points to lead the Tigers past Little Rock 82-48 Thursday at Neville Arena, the 1,000th victory in program history. Auburn becomes the 32nd NCAA Division I program and the sixth current SEC member to record 1,000 victories.

This weekend marks the program’s 18th appearance in The Big Dance, all of which have come under head coach Karen Hoppa. The Tigers are 13-17-0 all-time in the tournament. Auburn’s best run came in 2016 when it clinched the program’s first Elite Eight appearance with wins over South Alabama (4-0), No. 13 UConn (4-1) and No. 9 Florida (3-1). The Tigers were knocked off in the national quarterfinals by eventual champion, No. 3 USC, in a narrow 1-0 contest.

🔼 Bombastic Ball-Handlers Incoming. The Auburn men’s basketball program inked two talented four-star guards during the early signing period.

Kaden Magwood, a 6-foot-2, 170-pound guard from Louisville, K.Y., and Simon Walker, a 6-foot-4, 175-pound guard from Huntsville, Ala., will join the Tigers for the 2025-26 season. Magwood was rated the No. 60 overall player in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports. Rated a four-star prospect by 247Sports, Walker was the No. 2 player in Alabama and invited to play in the NBPA Top 100 Camp this summer.

🔼 We Meet Again. Following a brief road stint, Auburn (14-9, 4-8) returns to Neville Arena TONIGHT for a meeting with No. 14 Texas (13-6, 8-3). First serve is slated for 6:30 p.m. CT. For those unable to make it to the Plains, the match will also be streamed live on SEC Network Plus. This also marks the Tigers’ annual Military Appreciation match and Alumni Day.

This will only be the second meeting between the Tigers and Longhorns and the first such battle in the 25-point rally-scoring era. Texas took the first and only meeting in 2001, a four-set affair in Austin.

🔼 Four On the Floor. The Auburn gymnastics team added yet another talented class in 2026 as four signed with the program, head coach Jeff Graba announced. Joining the program will be Charlotte Booth (Clermont, Fla.), Adriana Consoli (Pearland, Texas), Rebekah Smith (Houston, Texas) and Brynn Torry (Yorktown, Va.).

🔼 Oscar-Worthy. THREE QUESTIONS WITH P OSCAR CHAPMAN 👇🏼

Q: Has it hit you yet that you have two more games left at Jordan-Hare Stadium?

A: Yeah. Before the season, I reached out to Anders (Carlson) and asked, ‘What was something you did in your last season that helped you get through it.” He was like, ‘Just live in the moment. Just love it.’ So, every game this year, I’ve kind of just taken it all in. I haven’t really gotten in my head like ‘I need to do well,’ or ‘This is my last one ever.’ It’s more about running out of the tunnel, looking around, and you got all the stuff going on. It’s kind of just staying in that moment. I’m pretty excited for these last two at home.

🔼 Getting the Softball Rolling. ESPN Events announced the full competition schedule for the 2025 Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational, which has Auburn Softball facing off in six games over a four-day slate.

The 16-team field features 14 teams that qualified for the 2024 NCAA Tournament, including three teams that advanced to the Women’s College World Series. The tournament returns to the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Florida, for the sixth time. A total of 40 games will be played across ESPN platforms over the four-day tournament.

🔼 Making Great Strides. Auburn cross country starts postseason competition today at the NCAA South Regional in Tallahassee, Florida. The South region is one of nine nationally that will be contesting races Friday with hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championships on November 23.

One men’s team and five women’s teams are nationally recognized in the latest edition of the USTFCCCA poll. On the men’s side, it includes No. 10 Alabama, and the women will go toe-to-toe with No. 7 Alabama, No. 16 Tennessee, No. 18 Florida, No. 24 Florida State, and No. 27 Lipscomb. The women will also run against SEC rivals Georgia, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt.

🔼 Seven Stupendous Softballers. All-Americans, national and state champions and record holders are just some of the many titles the newest members of Auburn softball hold as Chris and Kate Malveaux announced their first signing class as co-head coaches of the Tigers. The seven signees will head to the Plains next fall, joining the program for the 2026 season.

The highly decorated class has combined for four All-America selections, 18 All-State recognitions, four state championships, five conference Player/Pitcher of the Year awards and multiple national championships on the club softball scene.

🔼 Riding High Next Season. The No. 1 Auburn equestrian team and head coach Jessica Braswell announced the signing of 11 incoming student-athletes for the 2025-26 academic year. Six Western riders will join the squad along with five Jumping Seat riders.
