The challenge, says head MBB coach Bruce Pearl, will be to bring the same preparation and passion to tonight’s matchup with Kent State as No. 5 Auburn did in Saturday’s 74-69 win over No. 4 Houston. Pearl expects the Golden Flashes, the preseason pick to finish third in the Mid-American Conference, to provide a significant challenge.

“Can we play with the same energy and sense of urgency?” Pearl wondered. “We’d like to play that way every night.”

Auburn and Kent State tip off at 7 p.m. CT at Neville Arena on SEC Network/ESPN+.

🔼 Fear the Trident, Indeed. Three members of the Auburn men’s golf team, Josiah Gilbert, Jackson Koivun and Brendan Valdes, have been named to the final fall watch list for the 2025 Fred Haskins Award. 

Dating back to 1971, the Haskins Award is given annually to the top male U.S. collegiate golfer, as voted on by only college golfers, coaches and members of the golf media. Past winners have captured 33 major championships and more than 400 professional tournaments around the world.

🔼 And Another One. Auburn sophomore Anna Davis has been named to the Final Fall ANNIKA Award Watch List. Davis was one of the 25 golfers who appeared on the watch list and one of nine SEC golfers on the prestigious list. Named for Annika Sorenstam, the award was created in partnership with the Haskins Foundation to acknowledge the top female golfer.

The sophomore had one of the most dominant performances of any player in the nation during the fall portion of the Tigers’ schedule. Davis finished within the top three individually in all four of the team’s fall tournaments and was named SEC Player of the Week twice. At the Illini Invitational at Medinah, Davis carded the lowest 54-hole score in program history (203) and claimed the individual title.

🔼 From Russia, With Love. Russian standout Amirkhamza Nasridinov has signed with Auburn men’s tennis, head coach Bobby Reynolds announced on Tuesday. Nasridinov will join the Tigers in January before the 2025 spring season. Nasridinov has a career-high ITF Junior Ranking of 90^th and boasts multiple wins in ITF Junior events. The 19-year-old also holds an ATP singles ranking of 1308.
