Auburn Access: Men's Basketball Celebrates Win Over Houston

A fantastic season for Auburn soccer continues as the Tigers are set to host the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament at home, welcoming Florida International for a 6 p.m. CT matchup this Friday, Nov. 15. The matchup will be the first meeting between Auburn and FIU.

 It is the program’s 18^th NCAA Tournament berth and first since the 2021 season. The Tigers are 13-17-0 all-time in the tournament. Auburn’s best run came in 2016 when it clinched the program’s first Elite Eight appearance with wins over South Alabama (4-0), No. 13 UConn (4-1) and No. 9 Florida (3-1). The Tigers were knocked off in the national quarterfinals by eventual champion, No. 3 USC, in a narrow 1-0 contest.

Approaching G.O.A.T. Status. Auburn senior All-American and National Player of the Year candidate Johni Broome was honored as SEC Player of the Week.

The 6-foot-10 forward/center led the then No. 11-ranked Tigers to a 2-0 season-opening week of college basketball. He averaged 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game in wins over three-time America East Conference champion Vermont and No. 4-ranked Houston. The latter marked the Tigers’ highest-ranked opponent win in regular-season, non-conference play in program history.

Oh, and AHEM…👇🏼 The Tigers moved up six spots to No. 5 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 Poll.
