🎥 WAREAGLE+: TALKING TIGERS

Talking Tigers - Gene Chizik
He is one of a handful of folks to have been a part of two unbeaten teams in Auburn Football history. Gene Chizik was the Tigers’ Head Coach of the 2010 National Champions and the Defensive Coordinator for the 2004 Unbeaten SEC Champions. Auburn’s defense held opponents to 11 points per game that season. The Tigers also beat Tennessee for the second time in the SEC Championship Game, Auburn’s first since 1989. Gene Chizik is featured in this Talking Tigers Podcast.

🔼 Back At It. Mark those calendars!

🔼 Leader of the Pack. Productivity made Eugene Asante a starter. Leadership made him a captain. Auburn’s leading tackler in 2023, Asante strives to help the Tigers navigate a challenging start to the 2024 season.

“Who you are is developed through the adversity that you go through,” Asante said. “As a kid, you dreamed of coming to Auburn and making a play in that stadium. Don’t shy away from it. The moment’s not too big for you.”

That message resonated with true freshman linebacker Demarcus Riddick, who led the Tigers with six tackles against Oklahoma, while Asante added a season-high four tackles and his first tackle for loss this season.

Read the feature on Asante for more on his NFL aspirations, painting hobby and the legacy he hopes to leave behind.

🔼 The Sisterhood of the Traveling Tigers. Four current and former Auburn women’s tennis players represented the Tigers worldwide in professional competition over the summer.

Go here to read about the impressive successes and astounding international adventures experienced by Ariana Arsenault, Carolyn Ansari, Angella Okutoyi and Merna Refaat .

🔼 Don’t Be Late For 1-0-8. February will be here before we know it. New and existing members of our 108 Club can join today to enjoy all the perks we offer throughout the 2025 season.

🔼 Cleats On the Ground. A new era of Auburn softball is beginning under the direction of co-head coaches Chris and Kate Malveaux, and with them are eight new Tigers on The Plains looking to help make a mark in year one.

One of the newest faces on the pitching staff, Blayne Godfrey, joins the program after a highly decorated prep career. From Danville, the right-handed pitcher was a five-time all-state honoree.

Q: What has been the highlight of your softball career so far?

Godfrey: The highlight of my career so far was hitting the walk-off home run and pitching an 11-inning shutout in the same high school game. Also, I won the PGF National Championship with my travel ball team over the summer.

🔼 Football and Reading Go Together Like … Well, You’ll See. The Alabama Education Association is excited to celebrate another year of champion reading through its Be A Champion and Read contest. K-6 students are challenged to read six reading-level appropriate books to qualify for the Grand Prize: Iron Bowl tickets—one winner for each team—for the student and two guests. Each prize includes sideline passes and pre-game activities.
