Bodda Getta Daily Brew 10/14: Brace Yourselves

A brace from Olivia Woodson helped Auburn Soccer take down the Lady Vols

Good Morning, Tigers. Thanks to a brace from sophomore Olivia Woodson and an 80th -minute game-winner from senior Sydnie Thibodaux, No. 14 Auburn Soccer picked up its first win in Knoxville since 2015 as the Tigers knocked off the Lady Vols 3-2 in a back-and-forth clash Sunday afternoon at Regal Soccer Stadium.

“What a gutsy performance by the entire team,” head coach Karen Hoppa said. “We faced a lot of adversity in the match, clearly, with injuries and losing the lead twice. For us to come back twice and finish that game out was incredible. It was a terrific, gutsy performance by this team.”

Auburn dug themselves in a hole early, and it was difficult for the Tigers to climb out of. Unforced errors gave Mississippi State as much as a seven-point lead midway through the frame. Returning from injury, Emma Moore stepped in and gave the Orange and Blue life. The improvement on defense was almost immediate.

🔼 Making a Splash? More Like a Cannonball. While a portion of the team was busy taking care of business at the SMU Classic in Dallas, the rest of the Auburn Tigers Swim and Dive squad spent Saturday dominating a dual with the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks.

The Auburn women cruised to victory, 242-58, while the men solidified the sweep, 180-120.
