🎥 WAREAGLE+: TALKING TIGERS

Talking Tigers - Robb Taylor
Robb Taylor was introduced to Wheelchair Basketball by his uncle, who had polio. Uncle Jim played and coached the game in Chicago. Taylor went to Illinois for his bachelor’s degree. Wheelchair basketball began there. He went to Missouri for his master’s and worked under a man who coached the U.S. Men and Women to gold medals in the Paralympics.

Taylor is back on the Plains after leading the U.S. Men’s team to the gold medal in Paris. He is the Athletic Director for Auburn Adaptive Athletics and serves as Auburn’s Head Coach for Wheelchair Basketball. He hopes he’ll be on the bench when the U.S. men defend their gold medal at the 2028 games in Los Angeles. U.S. Men’s Head Coach and Auburn Head Coach Robb Taylor is featured in this Talking Tigers Podcast.

🔼 Dance Like Everyone’s Watching. Forty years after leading Auburn to its first NCAA Tournament appearance, Charles Barkley applauds Bruce Pearl for elevating the Tigers’ program to the level where bids to the Big Dance are an annual occurrence.

“One of my greatest accomplishments, we made it to March Madness my last year,” said Barkley, the 1984 SEC Player of the Year. “Bruce has raised the expectations, and I’m happy for that.”

The basketball hall of famer joined Pearl Monday at Grand National for their ninth annual Bruce, Barkley & Basketball Golf Classic Presented by YellaWood.

“There’s not a more influential person in the world of basketball than Charles Barkley,” Pearl said. “What he’s accomplished as a player, as a person, professionally and philanthropically, the kind of role model he is.

🔼 13 Is Unlucky? Think Again! Congrats on the ace, Brendan Valdes!

Auburn Men’s Golf is back in action for its third tournament of the season as the No. 1 Tigers have traveled to Fort Worth, Texas, for the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, which runs through today at Colonial Country Club.

Representing the Orange & Blue this week are Jackson Koivun, Brendan Valdes, Josiah Gilbert, Carson Bacha and Billy Davis.

🔼 She Went For the Kill. Dialing up stellar performances to help Auburn take down No. 12 Kentucky and rival Alabama, Grace Havlicek has been named SEC Freshman of the Week

Havlicek was an offensive and defensive powerhouse in the Tigers’ historic win over No. 12 Kentucky. Havlicek was nearly perfect on Friday, swinging for six kills with zero errors on her nine attempts for an astounding .667 hitting percentage. Defensively, she dialed up a career-best 10 blocks, including one solo effort.

Two days later, She added six more rejections to her season total, helping the Orange and Blue to its eighth straight victory over rival Alabama.

🔼 Doling Out Donuts Like It’s Her Job. There’s a new sheriff in town! ICYMI—Senior goalkeeper Maddie Prohaska smashed Auburn’s shutout record with the 34th of her career in Sunday’s game against Ole Miss. She now stands alone at second in Southeastern Conference history.

🔼 Anna’s Bananas…On the Pitch. It’s no wonder that senior Anna Haddock was the player of the game in Sunday’s contest against Ole Miss, as she, along with sophomore Olivia Woodson and senior Becky Contreras struck for three in the match’s final period, marking the first time Auburn has banked three goals in one half of a conference game since beating Alabama 4-2 with three second-half scores in 2017.

Haddock also picked up the 40th assist of her career during the game.
