🎙️ TALKING TIGERS

He is the fastest hurdler in world history! Auburn’s Ja’Kobe Tharp broke the world record in the NCAA Outdoor Championship semifinals. Two days later, he completed the hurdling Quad. The SEC and NCAA Indoor title in the 60-hurdles and the SEC & NCAA Outdoors in the 110. Now, the junior from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, is among the favorites to win the gold medal at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. For a second straight year he is a finalist for the Bowerman Award that goes to the nation’s top track and field athlete. Auburn National Champion hurdler, Ja’Kobe Tharp is featured in this Talking Tigers Podcast.

🔼  Senior Spotlight. Auburn senior tight end Hunter Herring has had a non-linear football journey. After starting as a quarterback, he transitioned to tight end, where he started experiencing the physical demands of the position. Despite injuries and setbacks, Herring’s perseverance and support system have kept him going, with the NFL as his ultimate goal.

🔼 Roll Call. A total of 114 Auburn student-athletes were named to the 2025-26 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll! Football led the way with 15 selections, while baseball was close behind with 12.

🔼  International Addition. Auburn women’s tennis has signed Yara Bartashevich for the 2026-27 season. She was one of the best junior players in the world as she reached a ranking of No. 12 and won six ITF titles. She’s a member of the French National Team and currently resides in Boulogne-Billancourt, France.

Back To School. Women’s basketball head coach Larry Vickers is hosting his Basketball Academy’s Back to School Giveaway on July 31 from 4-6 p.m. CT! There will be free school supplies and backpacks while supplies last, a live DJ, games and more fun for students Pre-K through 6th grade. The event is free!
