Auburn football’s team chaplain and Fellowship of Christian Athletes campus director Mike Blanc talks about the significance of following Brother Chette.

Good Morning, Auburn Family. On his recruiting visit to the Plains 20 years ago, Mike Blanc met Rev. Chette Williams, Auburn football’s team chaplain and Fellowship of Christian Athletes campus director.
“I didn’t even know teams had chaplains,” Blanc said. “I didn’t know it was a thing.”
Brother Chette, as Williams was known, told the prospective Tiger about Bible studies, one-on-one meetings with student-athletes and an optional Friday chapel service before football games.
“’Here at Auburn, you have an opportunity to grow physically, mentally and spiritually,’” Brother Chette said.
That was all Blanc needed to hear.
Read the feature for more on the origins of Blanc’s faith and athletic prowess, his hesitancy to “come after Chette” and how his experience as athlete helps him connect with the student-athletes.

🔼 Iron Sharpens Iron. Comfortability plays a big part in both team and individual performance and success in almost anything, and senior safety Jahquez Robinson believes it’s a trait that will reap benefits for Auburn football in 2025.
Robinson arrived on the Plains last July and had only two weeks to get acclimated to a new home and program prior to his first fall camp. Now entering his second season, he feels much more at home with the Orange and Blue.
The sense of confidence is not only radiating through Robinson, but also throughout the whole football facility entering the third year under head coach Hugh Freeze.
With back-to-back top 10 recruiting classes and another good haul of players from the transfer portal, Freeze hasn’t shied away from believing this team can live up to the high expectations to win, expressing optimism at AMBUSH tour events and SEC Media Days. The players are reiterating what Freeze has been saying this summer.
“Iron sharpens iron every day,” Robinson added.
Read “On the Plains With Jahquez Robinson” for more on being raised by a Marine, his mentor/uncle who spent ten years in the NFL and his hopes for his Auburn legacy.
