Auburn’s Johni Broome, a unanimous first team All-American and the SEC Player of the Year, was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2025 Draft.

Good Morning, Auburn Family. Auburn’s Johni Broome, a unanimous first team All-American and the SEC Player of the Year, was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the fifth pick of the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft Thursday. Broome became the first Auburn player drafted by Philadelphia since Hall of Famer Charles Barkley was selected fifth overall in the 1984 draft.
🗣 "I'm a winner. I get things done offensively and defensively,” Broome said on the ESPN broadcast. “The 76ers got a good one."
Broome becomes the seventh draft pick in the last seven years for head coach Bruce Pearl. He is the 36th player in program history to have his name called in the draft.

🔼 Keys to a Legacy. A month after former Auburn tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen passed away in 2014, a high school coach in Georgia asked Mike to speak to his team. College coaches began reaching out as well.
The Lutzie 43 Foundation, a reference to Philip’s jersey number at Auburn, was born. Three years later, Mike introduced an initiative called 43 Key Seconds, handing out keys to young drivers inscribed with “43 Key Seconds” on one side and “43 to Distracted Free” on the other.

🧐 TRIVIA ANSWER
Answer: Cam Newton!
At Auburn, everything came together for Philip Lutzenkirchen and the Tigers in 2010 during their National Championship season; the first for the school in over 50 years. Philip became a household name when he caught the game-winning touchdown from Cam Newton in the Iron Bowl to defeat Alabama for the SEC West crown, sending Auburn to the SEC Championship Game.
