Bodda Getta Brew 6/25: True Testament to Tigers

For the third consecutive football season, Auburn has sold out of public season tickets for the upcoming football season.

Good Morning, Auburn Family. For the third consecutive football season, Auburn has sold out of public season tickets for the upcoming football season, matching last year’s record of 63,500 tickets purchased. The sellout was achieved during the exclusive Tigers Unlimited purchasing window and no inventory remained for a general public on sale.

Of the 63,500 tickets purchased, more than 4,000 are from new season ticket holders.

🗣 “The Auburn family is second to none and a sellout of season tickets for three consecutive years demonstrates what makes Auburn so special.” - Hugh Freeze, head coach

🔼 Butch Thompson And the Coaching Bids. Coming off Auburn’s fourth regional championship in the last seven postseasons, head coach Butch Thompson has been named the Southeast Region Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Thompson joins former head coach Hal Baird (1994) as the only other in program history to earn ABCA Region Coach of the Year honors.

Thompson led the Tigers to a 41-20 overall record, including a 17-13 finished in SEC play, and became the first coach in program history to win his fourth regional championship en route to hosting the first super regional in program history.

🔼 He Threw Caution to the Wind. Stewart Hagestad and Auburn’s Josiah Gilbert tied for the best score among top-15 finishers at the Northeast Amateur Golf Tournament on Friday, battling 30 mph winds.

“That was probably one of the toughest rounds of golf that I ever played,” Gilbert told The Providence Journal. “In a good way, though.”

🧐 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: 1973!

In 1973, Cliff Hare Stadium (originally Auburn Stadium) was renamed Jordan-Hare Stadium, becoming the first stadium in the United States named after an active coach, Ralph "Shug" Jordan. The renaming took place before Auburn's first home game of the 1973 season. Jordan was the head football coach at Auburn from 1951 to 1975.
