Bodda Getta Brew 6/16: Relaying Stellar Track News

Ja’Kobe Tharp won his second national title and the 4x100m relay team repeated as national champions Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Good Morning, Auburn Family. Sophomore hurdler Ja’Kobe Tharp won his second national title and the 4x100m relay team of Azeem Fahmi, Kayinsola Ajayi, Dario Matau, and Makanakaishe Charamba repeated as national champions Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at historic Hayward Field. The men finished with 35 points, good for fourth place, marking the first time the Auburn men had consecutive top five finishes at outdoor nationals since 2007-08.

The pair of event titles gave Auburn multiple national titles in the same year for the third time ever. It previously occurred in 2006 when Cory Martin won the shot put and hammer throw and 1976 when Harvey Glance won the men’s 100 and 200m dashes.

👟 Torian, Adams earn first team All-America honors @ Outdoor Championships
🥎 Softball adds talented, left-handed pitcher
🐅 And much, much more!

🔼 The A-Team. Auburn sophomore Ana-Liese Torian and senior Adrienne Adams both earned first team All-America honors with outstanding efforts during the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Torian finished fourth in the 100m hurdles, while Adams broke the school record in the discus throw to finish sixth.

Torian’s showing was the best in the event at NCAAs since Rosalind Council was national champion in 1986. Adams had a career day, breaking the Auburn school mark on her second throw with a mark of 58.75m, and bettering it by nearly two meters on her third throw.

🔼 Southpaw in the Circle. Adding another talented arm to the bullpen, Auburn softball co-head coaches Chris and Kate Malveaux announced the signing of Abby Herndon to the 2026 roster.

A left-handed pitcher and Alabama native, Herndon spent the 2025 season at Ole Miss as the Rebels made a historic postseason run with their first Women’s College World Series.

Ranked the No. 28 recruit of the 2024 class by ExtraInning Softball, Herndon was a six-year letterwinner and three-time, all-state honoree at Brooks High School.

🔼 “Lang May Yer Lum Reek.” Auburn sophomore Anna Davis advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 2025 R&A Women’s Amateur on Friday at Nairn Golf Club in Nairn, Scotland. "Lang may yer lum reek" (long may your chimney smoke) is apparently a well-wishing phrase in Scotland, so that seems appropriate!

Davis got off to a hot start during the stroke play portion of the championship, firing an opening round 69 (-3), before finishing the 36 holes of stroke play at 3-over (147) and being one of the 64 players to advance to the match play portion of the event.

Davis was one of the final eight competitors, but unfortunately lost in Saturday’s semifinals round.
