🔼 Putting the Competition On Notice. The Auburn men’s track and field team had a record-breaking first day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, as three individuals and one relay posted the fastest preliminary times during day one of the championships at historic Hayward Field. The Tigers broke two school records in the process, while equaling an NCAA outdoor meet record in the 4x100m relay.

Advancing to Friday’s finals included the 4x100m relay, Ja’Kobe Tharp in the 110m hurdles, Makanakaishe Charamba in the 200m, and Kayinsola Ajayi and Israel Okon in the 100m. The 4x100 relay, along with Tharp, Charamba and Ajayi all ran the fastest preliminary times in their respective events.

He heads into Oakmont fresh off another remarkable season, where he was named a First Team All-American for the second year in a row, becoming the first man in program history to do so as a freshman and a sophomore.

🔼 The Wright Way. Senior Jeremiah Wright is a big family guy.

The 6-5, 337-pound offensive lineman wanted to go to a place that emphasized the importance of family and that’s what he found when he came to Auburn.

“It just felt like home,” Wright said on why he chose Auburn. “All the players are together and do activities together. We’ll chill at each other’s house.”

Family has been a big part of his life growing up in the South, has continued into college and will continue after his time on the Plains comes to an end.

To add to all that, Wright will be a father soon, as his son is due in July.

Read “On the Plains With Jeremiah Wright” for more on his NFL and post-NFL aspirations, his desire to give back to his hometown of Selma and the lessons he’s learned at Auburn.

🔼 She’s On the Job. The Auburn equestrian team and head coach Jessica Braswell announced that Natalie Bretz has been hired as the program’s Director of Operations.

Bretz joined the staff after serving as the team’s academic advisor for the past two years. She graduated from Auburn in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in accountancy and in 2021 with a master’s degree in accountancy. She worked in SASS as a graduate assistant and assistant academic counselor before moving up to academic counselor in March 2023.
