For the second consecutive year, Auburn sophomore Jackson Koivun has been named a top-three finalist for the Ben Hogan Award.
Good Morning, Auburn Family. For the second consecutive year, Auburn sophomore Jackson Koivun has been named a top-three finalist for the Ben Hogan Award. The award is given annually to the top men’s NCAA Division I, II or III, NAIA or NJCAA college golfer based on all collegiate, amateur and professional events over the previous 12 months.
This year’s finalists represent the top three players in the world amateur golf rankings (WAGR) – Luke Clanton of Florida State (1), Koivun (2) and North Carolina’s David Ford (3). The winner will be crowned at a black-tie dinner Monday, May 19, at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

🔼 Keep an I On This Guy. Auburn track & field freshman Israel Okon was named the SEC Men’s Runner of the Week. It is the second SEC weekly honor for the Tigers this outdoor season and the first for Okon’s career.
The All-American delivered a pair of wins at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Racing in the 100m, Okon blew through the competition, running a 9.91 (+2.9 m/s) in the 100m to take gold. Delivering a personal best time on the Bernie Moore Track, Okon’s time is No. 2 in the nation and No. 1 in the SEC this season.

🔼 Softball Selection Show Up Next. Battling from behind, Auburn softball cut it to a one-run game heading into the seventh but Alabama hung on for a 3-2 win Tuesday night in the opening round of the SEC Softball Tournament.
🗣 “It’s tough in postseason because you can always look back at one or two plays … This was really good tune-up for us to get us thinking about the right things moving forward next week.” - Chris Malveaux, co-head coach
Auburn will wait to hear its named called during Sunday’s NCAA Softball Division I Selection Show. The show airs on ESPN2 at 6 p.m. CT.

🔼 This Math is Mathing. Fourteen of Auburn Athletics’ 19 teams posted perfect 1,000 Academic Progress Rate scores for the 2023-24 scoring period. The APR tracks the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship.
Auburn teams earning single-year APRs of 1,000 were men’s basketball, men’s cross country, men’s golf, men’s swimming & diving, men’s tennis, women’s basketball, women’s golf, gymnastics, softball, soccer, women’s swimming & diving, women’s tennis, volleyball and equestrian.
🗣 “In competition and in the classroom, Auburn student-athletes are committed to excelling, as these outstanding APR results attest.” - John Cohen, athletic director

🔼 Not Out of Left Field. Senior outfielder Abbey Smith was selected to the 2025 SEC Softball Community Service Team. The SEC sponsors these teams for all 22 league sponsored sports, which seek to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.
Smith is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Auburn while serving as the Mental Wellness Chair. Through SAAC, Smith has been highly involved around campus and within the Auburn community through various service projects.

🔼 Where There’s a Will, There’s Good Play. Since arriving on the Plains in the fall of 2021, Auburn senior Will Nolan has grown from being a role player to the captain of the 2025 squad and a regular at the top of the Tigers’ singles and doubles lineup in his final season.
Nolan had 14 singles wins this season while he and Billy Blaydes held a 23-9 overall doubles record. The Auburn duo have a 13-6 dual match record exclusively at the No. 1 singles position.
