Bodda Getta Brew 5/28: Cementing Their Legacies

No. 4 Auburn BSB’s five legacy seniors are leading by example.

Good Morning, Auburn Family. Fifty-six games into a grind that began on Valentine’s Day and continues past Memorial Day, Auburn BSB player Parker Carlson knows the value of remaining steady.

“You can’t get too high or too low in this league,” said the senior, a relief pitcher in his fourth season on the Plains. “The best players stay even keel throughout the whole thing.”

One of No. 4 Auburn’s five legacy leaders, along with seniors Deric Fabian, Cooper McMurray, Ben Schorr and junior Ike Irish, Carlson tries to lead by example.

Auburn’s captains’ leadership helped a trio of Tigers adjust quickly to the rigors of the SEC. Catcher Chase Fralick, outfielder Bub Terrell and infielder Chris Rembert each earned SEC All-Freshman Team honors.

👟 NCAA East Preliminaries start TODAY
🐅 And much, much more!

🔼 Hey, DJ, Play That Game. Auburn junior DJ Bennett has been named a finalist for the Honda Award for Tennis. Bennett joins Dasha Vidmanova of Georgia, Mary Stoiana of Texas A&M and Elza Tomase of Tennessee as finalists for the prestigious honor.

In November, Bennett, who will be a senior in 2025-26, made program history by becoming just the second Auburn player to reach the NCAA Singles Championship final and was part of the second doubles team in program history to advance to the NCAA Doubles Championship semifinals.

🔼 Auburn Golf in the Time of A.D. Auburn sophomore Anna Davis has been named a second-team All-American. This is Davis’ third honor from the WGCA in her career, as she was previously named a second-team All-American and an All-Freshman selection last season.

In her second season of college golf, Davis earned first-team All-SEC honors after being named to the second team and the SEC All-Freshman team in 2024. She led the Tigers in scoring average (70.41), rounds under par (13), birdies (91) and eagles (5). She was also named SEC Player of the Week three times during the 2024-25 season.

🔼 Doubly Good. Senior shortstop Nelia Peralta and senior centerfielder Abbey Smith were both named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Softball Team. These teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.

Smith and Peralta will both move to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Those honorees will be announced on June 17. The pair mark the 15th and 16th overall CSC Academic All-District selections in program history. Peralta joins Kasey Cooper as a three-time honoree. Smith’s is the first of her career.

🔼 Hammer Time (Yeah, We Said It). Auburn track & field travels to Jacksonville, Florida, for the NCAA East Preliminaries to begin the journey to the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on the University of North Florida campus. Action begins this morning at 9 a.m. CT with the men’s hammer throw. The men’s events will occur today and Friday, while the women compete Thursday and Saturday.

Auburn will have 16 men and 14 women compete in 19 individual events and two relays in an attempt to qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, at the historic Hayward Field, June 11-14. Of the 30 competing, 12 have previously competed at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

🔼 Unsinkable Molly Brown … Davidson. Auburn women’s golf has signed Molly Brown Davidson, head coach Melissa Luellen announced. Davidson will join the Tigers for the 2025-26 season after playing one season at Alabama.

As a freshman at Alabama, Davidson made the starting lineup in each team event and finished within the top 20 in five tournaments. She also led the Crimson Tide in rounds of par or better with 11.

The Springville, Alabama, native has many family ties to the Plains, as both of her parents attended Auburn University and her brother, Cole, currently attends Auburn.

“All three have had great success both domestically and internationally and will help us reach our team goals moving forward. We look forward to helping them achieve their personal goals, and we appreciate them and their families for trusting our coaching and support staff to help make those goals a reality.” - Jordan Szabo, head coach

🗣“I’m proud of this team and I’m proud of these seniors. They gave their blood, sweat and tears for Auburn and this program is in a better place because of it. Today was not the result we wanted, but we’re still proud of who we are and what we’ve accomplished.” - Nick Clinard, head coach
