The Tigers softball team is set to face South Florida (43-14-1) today in the opening game of the Tallahassee Regional.
Good Morning, Auburn Family. For the second consecutive season, Auburn softball’s (32-22) road to Oklahoma City begins in Tallahassee as the Tigers are set to face South Florida (43-14-1) today in the opening game of the Tallahassee Regional. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. CT on ESPNU.
The winner of today’s contest advances to face either (5) Florida State (46-9) or Robert Morris (30-16) tomorrow. Saturday’s schedule will feature a pair of elimination games and one winner’s bracket contest that will send one team directly into Sunday’s championship game.
🗣 “Every game is going to be a battle. We need to make sure we’re locked in and that we stay aggressive…” - Chris Malveaux, co-head coach

🔼 Ayyy, Charamba ☄️. Auburn senior sprinter Makanakaishe Charamba ran a 19.92 in the preliminaries of the men’s 200m dash to break his native Zimbabwe’s national record, to pace Auburn during day one of the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Kentucky, Friday.
The top qualifier in the event, Charamba and teammate Dario Matau both advanced to Saturday’s 200m finals. Auburn also advanced two runners in the women’s 400m hurdles as Zuriel Reed and Ashantae Harvey got the final two spots in Saturday’s finals.

🔼 Cards Are On the Table. No. 2 Auburn took a scoreless game into the fifth inning, but No. 22 Ole Miss scored nine unanswered runs in the fifth through seventh frames to claim a 9-2 win in the series opener Thursday at Swayze Field.
“When you’re on the road, the earlier you can score the more you can settle into the ballgame,” head coach Butch Thompson said. That didn’t happen tonight. I tip my hat to Hunter Elliott. We have to come back out here with our guy [Samuel] Dutton tomorrow and get back in this series.”

🔼 I-I, Sir. Junior outfielder Ike Irish has been named a semifinalist for the 2025 Dick Howser Trophy. Irish is one of 67 candidates from across the country, including a leading 18 from the Southeastern Conference.
This is the 38th year of the Dick Howser Trophy, and the 2025 finalists will be announced on Thursday, June 7. The winner will be unveiled on Friday, June 13 on MLB Network in a special national presentation at 9:30 a.m. CT prior to the press conference at 10 a.m. before the first game of the College World Series.

🔼 Tri-Perfecta. Auburn softball’s AnnaLea Adams, Nelia Peralta and SJ Geurin earned national postseason honors as the Tiger trio was selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Gulf Region Teams. All selected student-athletes are now eligible for the 2025 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
Adams was tabbed to the NFCA All-Gulf Region First Team while Peralta and Geurin both earned NFCA All-Gulf Region Second Team selections. Auburn’s three selections are the most it’s had in a single season since four Tigers were honored in 2017 and brings the program’s overall total to 38 honorees.

🔼 The Ace Up Our Sleeve. Samuel Dutton has been a key reason why the Tigers have claimed seven of nine SEC series.
“One of the most fun teams I’ve ever been a part of,” said Dutton, a senior right-handed pitcher who will start tonight for the Tigers at Ole Miss.
It’s quite a statement from someone with a national championship ring.
After three seasons at LSU, Dutton returned to his home state to play for Auburn, joining his brother Andrew Dutton, a graduate student who played the previous four seasons at Birmingham-Southern.
“He’s a won a championship. He’s basically come home,” Auburn coach Butch Thompson said. “All he’s done is add to his repertoire, be a great teammate, and arguably be one of the best pitchers in the Southeastern Conference this year. He’s been our ace.”
