Bodda Getta Brew 4/23: Your Pop "Quez"

Read “With the Next Pick: Jarquez Hunter” as the Auburn RB prepares for the NFL Draft.

Good Morning, Auburn Family. “It made me into a hard worker,” Auburn RB Jarquez Hunter said of his four seasons on the Plains from 2021-24. “Working for everything I wanted, competing with everybody.”

Hunter carried his famed work habits into the offseason, preparing for the NFL Draft by working out twice per day, six days a week. Starting next season, Sunday will be a workday for Hunter, whose pre-draft priority was convincing NFL decision makers that he’s equally adept at receiving.

At Auburn’s Pro Day, Hunter wanted to display his pass catching and explosiveness. Tiger football fans have seen those traits firsthand the past four seasons. Hunter ranks fourth in program history with 3,371 career rushing yards and a 6.27 yards-per-carry average.

🔼 Pitch Perfect Night at Plainsman Park. No. 11 Auburn turned in its fourth shutout win of the season with a 1-0 victory against No. 21 Georgia Tech in front of a record midweek crowd of 5,559 Tuesday night at Plainsman Park.

The game marked the program’s first 1-0 win since defeating Mercer 1-0 on May 30, 2015 in the Tallahassee Regional. It also marked the first time Georgia Tech had been shutout this season with the two hits marking the team’s fewest in a game. It was the fifth time this season the Tigers held the opponent to two hits.

🔼 Tigers > Jaguars. In the final road contest of the regular season, Auburn softball (27-20) treks to Mobile to face in-state foe South Alabama (17-27) tonight at Jaguar Field in the Tigers’ midweek finale. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+. The Tigers are 2-0 in games played at Jaguar Field and are making their first trip to Mobile since 2011.

Auburn leads the all-time series with a 7-2 record, which includes Auburn’s 7-6 victory at Jane B. Moore Field last month. In that contest, South Alabama jumped out to an early 5-0 lead. A six-RBI performance by Anna Wohlers and a walk-off home run from AnnaLea Adams completed the comeback win for the Tigers.

Racing in the 200m for the first time this outdoor season, Charamba posted a world-leading time of 19.99 in the 200m at the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Florida. With his first-place finish on the Percy Beard Track, he holds the only sub-20-second performance so far this outdoor season. His time was just four hundredths shy of his school record (19.95).
