Good Morning, Auburn Family. Powered by a 12-run fourth inning, No. 17 Auburn softball (20-1) completed its 13th comeback win of the season to defeat Troy 12-2 in five innings Wednesday night at Jane B. Moore Field.

The Tigers were hitless through the first three innings as Troy’s (12-9) Alyssa Faircloth struck out nine in a dominating start, but the Tigers responded in an epic way. Auburn’s 12-run fourth inning marked the first time the Tigers scored 10 or more runs in a single inning since 2019. Kylie Brockman was the big hero of the night with two home runs and five RBI in the fourth inning.

🎥 WAREAGLE+: THIS WEEK IN AUBURN BASEBALL

🔼 A Diamond in the Rough. For the fourth time in the last year, Auburn sophomore Jackson Koivun is set to compete at the PGA Tour’s Arnold Palmer Invitational today through Sunday, March 6-9, in Orlando, Florida.

This week will be the fourth PGA tournament for Koivun, who’s made the cut twice in his previous three outings. His best finish was a 52nd-place showing at the Memorial presented by Workday in early June of 2024.

A top-10 finish this week would bump him to 20 PGA Tour U accelerated points, the benchmark needed to earn his PGA Tour Card.

🔼 Now That’s Forward Thinking. Auburn’s Chad Baker-Mazara is one of five finalists for the 2025 Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award.

The annual Julius Erving Award, named after the Class of 1993 Hall of Famer and 16-year professional basketball player, celebrates its 11th year by recognizing the top small forwards in Division I men’s college basketball.

Baker-Mazara is currently the team’s second-leading scorer averaging 13.1 points per game, while shooting 47.4 percent from the floor and 89.7 percent from the free throw line. He also leads the No. 1 and back-to-back SEC champion Tigers in steals (36).

🗳️ : VOTING INFO

🔼 Net Results. Auburn redshirt sophomore Nicholas Heng has been tabbed SEC Player of the Week. Heng picked up the honor after earning three singles wins and one doubles victory over the weekend, including the match clinching singles victory against Georgia.

The Auburn redshirt sophomore is now the second Tigers to earn honors from the SEC this season, joining Alex Frusina, who was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Feb. 5.

🔼 Gaston’s Last Stand. A defensive struggle did not go Auburn’s way Wednesday night as Florida eliminated the Tigers from the SEC Tournament 60-50 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

In her final game as a Tiger, DeYona Gaston led Auburn with 16 points and 11 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season.

🗣“People didn’t see the challenges we had. Missing starters. A lot of injuries. But they continued to bounce back. So I’m excited for the future of this team, the players we have coming in and the players we have coming back.” Johnnie Harris, head coach

🔼 Putting the Puzzle Pieces Together. No. 20 Women’s golf finished the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in a tie for eighth place out of 17 teams in Hilton Head, South Carolina, on Tuesday. Redshirt junior Carys Worby finished the event inside the individual top 10 at 2-over (215).

🗣 “So happy for Carys for putting three solid rounds together for a great finish in a stacked field. Ironically, I feel as though we are close to having things come together as a team. Several bright spots individually and when we put it all together, we can win any tournament with any field.” Melissa Luellen, head coach

🔼 Track Tickets Punched. Auburn track & field will have nine student-athletes compete in the 2025 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia, March 14-15 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center, the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Track & Field and Cross Country Committee announced Monday.

The top 16 declared athletes in each event and relays receive bids to the championships.

🔼 On the Upswing. Auburn will make its Texas trek this week, facing No. 15 Texas A&M tonight at 6 p.m. CT and No. 4 Texas on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT. The Tigers will enter Thursday’s match winners of three straight matches.

Auburn bounced back from dropping its first two conference matches of the season by defeating No. 32 Vanderbilt on Friday and No. 59 Georgia on Sunday to even its SEC record at 2-2. The team also defeated Tennessee State on Sunday evening and the three wins moved Auburn up 13 spots in the latest ITA National Team Rankings No. 32.

Lora Komoroczy (50 free, 100 back, 100 fly), Morgan Carteaux (100 fly, 200 fly), Anastasia Makarova (100 breast), Elizaveta Klevanovich (50 free, 100 free), Lexie Mulvihill (50 free, 100 free), Julia Strojnowska (200 free, 500 free, 1650 free) and Audrey Crawford (200 breast, 200 IM, 400 IM) have all earned spots.

Between Komoroczy, Crawford, Carteaux and Klevanovich, the quartet has accounted for eight top-10 swims in program history this season.

🔼 The Ties That Bind. In a back-and-forth game that saw three separate ties, No. 20 Auburn fell in walk-off fashion, 6-5, at UAB Wednesday night. The loss snapped Auburn’s 10-game winning streak, marking the team’s longest such streak since 2019.

Auburn (11-2) tied the game in the fourth, sixth and eighth innings, but the Blazers (10-2) answered within their next two at-bats each time. Tied 5-5 in the ninth inning, UAB won the game on a two-out RBI single from Wesley Helms.
