Bodda Getta Brew 2/27: Auburn MBB in Sniffing Distance

One step closer to being SEC champs, No. 1 Auburn MBB beat Ole Miss 106-76 on Wednesday, the Tigers’ fifth straight victory.

Good Morning, Auburn Family. One step closer to an SEC championship, No. 1 Auburn led from start to finish Wednesday, beating Ole Miss 106-76 to sweep the season series, the Tigers’ fifth straight victory.

National player of the year frontrunner Johni Broome led Auburn with 24 points and nine rebounds. He became the 86th player in NCAA Division I history to score 2,500 career points when he made his fifth free throw of the first half. 

Four Tigers joined Broome in double figures. Chad Baker-Mazara totaled 22 points while Chaney Johnson, Denver Jones and Miles Kelly each added 13.

It was a historic night at Coleman Coliseum for the Tigers, while Caroline Leonard makes her collegiate debut on bars after coming back from a serious injury.

🔼 Road Warriors No More. It’s the final road game of the regular season for the Auburn women’s basketball team tonight when the Tigers take on Georgia. Game time is set for 5 p.m. CT/6 p.m. ET at Stegeman Coliseum.

Both teams are looking to snap skids in conference play. Auburn (12-15, 3-11 SEC) came up short Sunday at No. 18 Alabama, while Georgia (10-18, 2-12) fell at home to No. 1 Texas Monday night in their last contest.

Over the last year, the redshirt sophomore participated in the NAACP Auburn Chapter Friends and Family Day and read to students at Pick Elementary School. She has also been part of Together Opelika, an effort to establish relationships between the Opelika Police Department and the community. Young also worked with other Auburn student-athletes in a Christmas canned food drive, a kids' toy drive and wildfire relief over the last three months. Audia is also Auburn's representative on the SEC Women's Basketball Leadership Council.

🔼 Taco Tuesday? Nah, Tiger Tuesday. ICYMI! No. 25 Auburn steadied a back-and-forth game in the early going to defeat Samford 15-8 in front of a record midweek and student crowd Tuesday night at Plainsman Park.

🔼 Tigers Have the Need … the Need For Speed. Auburn track and field heads to Bryan-College Station, Texas for the 2025 Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships, through Saturday, March 1. The men enter the weekend ranked 7th and the women 54th, in the most recent USTFCCCA rankings poll.  

Led by third-year head coach Leroy Burrell, Auburn will go toe-to-toe with some of the nation’s best this week. The men will compete against seven nationally ranked SEC teams including No. 1 Arkansas, No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 9 Oklahoma, No. 12 Florida, No. 15 Mississippi State, No. 17 Ole Miss and No. 23 Missouri, while women face off against No. 1 Arkansas, No. 7 Georgia, No. 9 LSU, No. 10 Oklahoma, No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 13 South Carolina, No. 16 Tennessee, No. 18 Florida and No. 22 Alabama.
