No. 1 Auburn celebrated its latest history-making milestone, a 94-85 victory over No. 2 Alabama Saturday, in first-ever No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup.

Good Morning, Auburn Family. On the eve of the SEC’s first No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup, Bruce Pearl gathered his team at midcourt and said, “I promise you; you will remember this game. Let’s make history.”

Twenty-four hours later, No. 1 Auburn celebrated its latest history-making milestone, a 94-85 victory over No. 2 Alabama Saturday at Coleman Coliseum in a game the Tigers never trailed.  

Leading national player of the year candidate Johni Broome led six Tigers in double figures, totaling game highs in points (19), rebounds (14) and assists (6) to help Auburn improve to 7-0 in SEC road games.

🔼 Auburn Baseball’s One-Two Punch On The Plains. Behind homers from Chase Fralick and Cooper McMurray, No. 22 Auburn broke a tie with a five-run sixth inning and never looked back in its 14-6 series-clinching win against Holy Cross Sunday afternoon at Plainsman Park.

Fralick and McMurray combined for five hits, including the two homers, and drove in six runs to pace the offense. Fralick, a freshman, had a solo homer to start the sixth that broke a 4-4 tie, while McMurray’s three-run shot five batters later extended the advantage.

🔼 U-N-D-E-F-E-A-T-E-D. A two-run first inning was all Auburn softball (11-0) needed as Haley Rainey and SJ Geurin shut down Liberty’s (8-3) offense to carry the Tigers to a 2-1 win Sunday and an undefeated weekend at the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational.

With the win, Auburn became the first team to go 6-0 at the Clearwater Invitational since Florida State in 2019. 

🔼 Pool Props Recognized. Following a successful dual meet season, head coach Ryan Wochomurka and the Auburn Tigers head to Athens, Georgia for the 2025 SEC Championships today through Saturday (Feb. 17-22). Action begins at 11 a.m. CT with the women’s 1-meter diving competition.

Both the men’s and women’s teams finished the 2024-25 campaign with 5-1 dual meet records. The women racked up two top-25 wins, including a 168-132 effort over rival Alabama and enter the championships at No. 19 in the country in the latest CSCAA Coaches Poll. Meanwhile, the men also picked up an important win over the Crimson Tide (177.5-122.5), a ranked win over Georgia Tech, and sit at No. 14 in the country ahead of this week’s action. 

🔼 Tougher Cats Take the Dub. No. 5 Auburn defended its undefeated home record on Saturday, shutting out Kansas State by a 4-0 score at the Yarbrough Tennis Center in Auburn, Alabama.

The win improved Auburn’s record to 11-1 before the conference schedule opens on Sunday while Kansas State’s record dropped to 2-3 this season.

🔼 MakaMania ‘N’ More. Auburn track and field delivered a record-breaking weekend, as four student-athletes etched their names in the record books to highlight the team’s showing at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina, and the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts.  

Competing at the Clemson University Indoor Complex, senior Makanakaishe Charamba set a new school record in the 200m (20.16). Charamba’s 200m time of 20.16 ranks him No. 1 in the NCAA, is the world’s eighth fastest indoor time and broke the Clemson University Indoor Complex record that was set in 2018 (20.45).

🔼 This Squad Does NOT Horse Around. The No. 1 Auburn equestrian team put together a come-from-behind effort Saturday to take a 14-6 win over No. 8 South Carolina at the Auburn University Equestrian Center in front of another big crowd.

The Tigers (9-1, 3-1 SEC) found themselves down at halftime, 4-6. But the team rallied and picked up a sweep in both Fences (5-0) and Horsemanship (5-0) to come away with a 14-6 victory.
