Remaining atop the AP poll, No. 1 Auburn looks to rebound tonight from its first loss in more than two months when the Tigers visit Vanderbilt. 

The Commodores are 12-1 at home with Top 10 wins over Tennessee and Kentucky. Memorial Gymnasium, Vanderbilt’s home for 73 years, has also caused trouble for the Tigers until recently.

Seeking to improve to 6-0 in SEC road games, No. 1 Auburn tips off against Vandy tonight at 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network.

Talking Tigers - Larry Blakeney
From Gordo, Alabama, to the College Football Hall of Fame. That’s the trek of Larry Blakeney. A former Auburn quarterback and assistant coach, Blakeney went to Troy and became the Trojans’ all-time wins leader. Blakeney played Shug Jordan and coached under Pat Dye. In December, he’ll join both in the College Football Hall of Fame. Larry Blakeney is featured in this Talking Tigers Podcast.

🔼 A Tumbler’s Dozen. The Auburn gymnastics team remains No. 12 in this week’s RoadToNationals.com rankings with a 196.725 average. The Tigers (9-2, 2-1 SEC) bested the No. 11 Bulldogs this past Friday by .100 of a point, scoring a 197.3 to Georgia’s 197.2. Auburn’s beam squad remains ranked at No. 6 nationally with an average of 49.288.

Auburn takes on No. 3 Florida in Gainesville this Friday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m. CT.

🔼 No Mercy From the Charity Stripe. Auburn valiantly fought back from a double-digit deficit to take a lead in the final two minutes, but late free throws proved to be the difference as No. 16 Oklahoma escaped with a 73-71 win Monday night.

DeYona Gaston scored 24 points – 14 of them in the fourth quarter – to lead the Auburn effort. She went on a personal 9-0 run to open the fourth quarter, cutting a 10-point Oklahoma lead down to one in a span of 92 seconds.

🔼 From the Rockies to the Plains. The top-ranked Auburn equestrian team has welcomed 22 new faces to the squad fo this 2024-25 season, and it’s time to get to know them. Next up is Boulder, Colorado native Eve Westfall!

Q: How has your freshman experience been so far?
A: “It's a lot of fun. A lot of work goes into it and it pays off. My freshman year has been great, filled with new friendships and a great community.”

🔼 Turtle to Tiger. For his final season of college basketball, Ja’Heim “Turtle” Hudson wanted an opportunity to win.

Hudson’s path to Auburn was not as straightforward as others. The Peach State native began his college career at Georgia State. He got his first taste of March Madness that season as he played 18 minutes in a Round of 64 matchup against No. 1 seed Gonzaga. The following season, Hudson transferred to SMU where he was a valuable piece off the bench.

However, when the opportunity to come to Auburn presented itself, it was too good to pass up.

🐅 ONE BIG THING

Thanks a Hundo. Not only did Auburn shortstop Nelia Peralta reach this huge milestone after reaching 10 RBI this weekend, but the senior was also selected as SEC Co-Player of the Week—the first SEC weekly honor of her career. She shares the award with Oklahoma’s Ella Parker.

The Wellington, Florida, native turned in the best weekend of her career as she helped Auburn to a 5-0 performance at the Tiger Invitational to start the 2025 campaign. Holding a .611 average over the five-game slate, Peralta totaled 11 hits with five going for extra bases (three home runs, two doubles). She did not record a single strikeout in her 18 at bats.
