Good Morning, Auburn Family. Any doubts about Johni Broome’s shoulder coming into Saturday were quickly erased when the Auburn big man drained a 3-pointer in the first two minutes of the game. 

Broome finished with a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds, his eighth double-double of the season, leading No. 2 Auburn past No. 16 Purdue 87-69 in front of 15,335 at Legacy Arena in Birmingham. He was one of three Tigers in double figures as freshman Tahaad Pettiford poured in 18 points and Denver Jones added 15.

“The Jungle travels,” Broome said.

🔼 DeYona’s Drubbing. DeYona Gaston scored 35 points, one shy of her career high, to lead Auburn over Alabama State 83-40 Saturday at Neville Arena, the Tigers’ fourth straight win. Gaston exited midway through the fourth quarter after her free throw gave the Tigers a 50-point lead.

“It’s going to get harder,” Gaston said of the final tune-up next Sunday followed by SEC play in January. “We’ve got to make sure we’re consistent offensively and defensively and be ready when we come back from this Christmas break.”

🔼 Pitch Perfect on The Plains . Neve Renwick, a transfer forward from Tennessee Tech, has signed with the Auburn soccer program, head coach James Armstrong announced Saturday. Renwick joins the program ahead of the 2025 season with two years of eligibility remaining.

In two seasons at Tennessee Tech, Renwick racked up 36 points on 15 goals and six assists, earning back-to-back nods as a United Soccer Coaches All-Region player. She saw time in all 39 of the Golden Eagles’ matches since 2023, earning a start in 36 of them.

🔼 Making More Waves. Freshman Emily Hallifax made sure to leave an impact on the final day of competition at the Auburn Diving Invitational inside James E. Martin Aquatic Center. Coming dangerously close to a school record on the platform, Hallifax captured the win with Abigail Farrar and Chloe Brothers falling into second and third for an Orange and Blue sweep of the podium. 

🔼 They Answered the Call. The pipeline from the Plains to Major League Baseball worked overtime in 2024, with four Auburn alums making their big league debuts this year.

🔼 Clean Slate. Auburn baseball and head coach Butch Thompson announced Friday the Tigers' non-conference schedule to complete the team’s 2025 slate.

The schedule begins with nine straight home games in a 12-day span, starting with a three-game series against Holy Cross from Feb. 14-16. It marks the 10th time in the last 11 seasons Opening Day has been played on The Plains.
