Good Morning, Auburn Family. With one big man in foul trouble (Dylan Cardwell) and the other on the bench icing a sore shoulder (SEC Player of the Week Johni Broome), Chaney Johnson stepped in and stepped up to lead No. 2 Auburn over Georgia State 100-59 Tuesday at sold-out Neville Arena.

Johnson scored 26 points and made 12 of 14 shots, his most prolific scoring performance at Auburn, adding eight rebounds and four assists.

🔼 ‘Tis the Season For Swimming Head diving coach John Fox and the Auburn Tigers are set to host the 2024 edition of the AU Diving Invitational today through Saturday inside the James E. Martin Aquatics Center. The action begins today with the women’s 1-meter event. The meet will be streamed live on SEC Network Plus throughout the week. 

Fox and Co. are off to an impressive start to the 2024-25 campaign. Freshmen Ethan Swart and Emily Hallifax making waves in the early parts of the season. Swart swept the springboard events in a dual with North Carolina back in October, earning SEC Diver of the Week after securing career-highs on the 1-meter (324.68) and 3-meter (380.55).

🔼 Fa-La-La-Lafayette. After more than a week off for final exams, the Auburn women’s basketball team resumes non-conference play this morning when they travel to Lafayette, Louisiana, to take on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Game time is 11 a.m. CT at the Cajundome.

The Tigers (7-3) have won two straight, the last being a gritty 69-62 victory over UAB last Sunday when Auburn had just eight players available. The Ragin’ Cajuns (4-4) face their second straight SEC opponent; they fell at No. 4 LSU 85-57 Sunday afternoon.

🔼 She’s in Her “Hey Day.” The top-ranked Auburn equestrian team has welcomed 22 new faces to the squad in 2024-25 and it’s time to get to know them. Next up is Kate Marie Davis!

Q: What has been your favorite riding memory throughout your entire time with the sport? 
A: “My favorite riding memory is probably the time I first ever showed in the jumpers with my horse Quite Capital III at the time and won the division.”

Q: Where is your favorite place to be on campus or around Auburn and why? 
A: “My favorite place on campus is probably Hey Day Market because I find myself always getting dinner there with friends.”

Answer: Pat Dye

A teammate’s outreach after Rev. Chette Williams’ brief dismissal from the football team in 1982 by then head coach Pat Dye led to Chette’s spiritual transformation.  

“I carried the quote that Coach Dye gave me when I played here and he kicked me off the team,” Williams said in 2017. “Then he let me come back. His words that morning when I went into his office were, ‘Let's just take it one day at a time.’”
