Talking Tigers - Megan Schofill
A year and a half ago, Megan Schofill captured the hearts of the Auburn Family. She was the first Auburn golfer to win the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, but the fourth from her hometown club. During this football season, Schofill was on the field accepting the Leah Rawls Atkins Award, given annually for excellence in academics and athletics to a student-athlete who models leadership, integrity and courage.
With her college career complete, Schofill now enters the professional ranks, playing this spring on the Epson Tour, a qualifier for the LPGA. Megan Schofill is featured in this Talking Tigers Podcast.
🔼 The Meet Before the Meets. With the 2025 gymnastics season approaching, it is time to meet all the new faces joining the squad this year. The first one we get to know is freshman Olivia Ahern!
Q: How was the first semester of college? What has been the most significant adjustment?
A: “I have really enjoyed Auburn and everyone on the team has been amazing at helping us freshmen get used to college life. The biggest adjustment for me was just getting used to a new and busy schedule. With classes, practice, rehab, treatment, tutoring, and strength training there is always a lot going on.”
Q: Who's your biggest role model, and why?
A: “Within gymnastics, my biggest role model growing up was always Shawn Johnson. She was such a powerful gymnast, and I admired how she was able to handle the pressures of the Olympics and fame at such a young age.”

🔼 A Family Affair. New coach. (Sort of) new town. New job. Same family. It looks like Coach Armstrong’s family will be quite happy in Auburn!
🔼 Squad Up. The top-ranked Auburn equestrian team has welcomed 22 new faces to the squad in 2024-25 and it’s time to get to know them. Up next is freshman Sadie Berkhout, whose discipline is Jumping Seat.
Q: What made you want to go to Auburn?
A: “I have always wanted to go to Auburn for as long as I can remember. I have looked up to those on the equestrian team throughout my entire junior career, wishing that that would one day be me. It was always Auburn or nothing.”
Q: What is your favorite Auburn sport to go to and why?
A: “My favorite Auburn sport to go to has to be soccer. Since arriving at Auburn in the fall, I attended almost every home game unless we were traveling for a meet with the team.”
